Is Armored Core 6 open world?
FromSoftwareFollowing the success of Elden Ring, an open-world game, one might be curious if players in Armored Core 6 can also go anywhere they want since both the games share the same developer. Here’s everything you need to know about Armored Core 6 open-world support.
Given FromSoftware’s track record of producing critically acclaimed titles for decades, such as Armored Core, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Dark Souls, it’d be unfair to say that Elden Ring’s massive success is only due to its “open world” feature.
However, the term ‘open world’ may have made Elden Ring more appealing to the mainstream gaming audience who may have been deterred by the typical higher difficulty of Soulsborne games. For many, the open-world aspect made the game more “accessible,” so it is reasonable to expect FromSoftware to follow this path with Armored Core 6 as well.
So, here is all we know about Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon being an open world.
Is Armored Core 6 an open-world game?
No, Armored Core 6 is not an open-world game. The game follows a mission-based structure, but each mission area is relatively open, giving you a good enough sense of openness. Besides, you can’t fit a metric ton of metal in a narrow alleyway.
However, whether Armored Core 6 would be an open world during development was discussed. “Open world was considered, not just in the sense of do we make this open world or not? It was a case of what kind of game it should be, and what we wanted to focus on in terms of what makes Armored Core what it is,” said game director Masaru Yamamura in an interview with Inverse.
Armored Core has always had a mission-based structure, so FromSoftware’s decision to stick to its roots isn’t very surprising.
