Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora coming to PlayStation 4 & Xbox One?
UbisoftAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but what about last-gen consoles? Here’s all you need to know about the game’s availability on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is true to James Cameron’s world of Pandora, it is canon and touches every bit of its culture and life that makes the paradise so iconic. The visuals are just as flattering as their movie counterparts, but it does come at a cost as the game has pretty steep PC requirements.
It is one of the bigger releases of 2023 and is hotly anticipated too, so players on last-gen consoles do not want to miss out on this, especially when we only ever had two official Avatar video game adaptations.
Here’s whether Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is also available on Xbox One and PS4.
Can you play Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?
No, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is not available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and a last-gen port also seems incredibly unlikely.
In an interview with IGN, creative director Magnus Jansén said it isn’t just because of graphical quality that the game is not available on previous generations but also because of the world, AI, and some other mechanics like flying. He said:
“So, the wildlife, the AI, the way that they track you, the way that they attack you, the advances in technology and the way that we are taking advantage of the power with our in-house Snowdrop engine is allowing us [to] do amazing things that would not be possible [otherwise].”
Games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor were first released as exclusive to the current gen and were later announced for older generations, but this seems unlikely for Avatar given the reasons Ubisoft shared and the scale of the game.
