The Payday franchise has released its latest title. If you’re a fan of the previous titles and wondering whether Payday 3 is free to play, here’s everything you need to know.

Payday 3 has been fully released around the world and features two new playable characters for carrying out the heists. While the last entry was released in 2013, it was supported through DLC and expansions, and now fans are jumping into the Payday 3 heists to quickly make money.

However, the new content and DLCs weren’t added to the game for free. The free-to-play model is popular these days, as games like Call of Duty: Warzone, Valorant, Fortnite, and more, garner millions of players across the globe. As these games boast a huge playerbase, the purchasable items in their in-game stores help generate a ton of revenue.

With that said, let’s find out if Payday 3 is free-to-play.

Can you play Payday 3 for free?

No, Payday 3 is not a free-to-play game. Payday 3 has five purchasable editions across various platforms. However, if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can access Payday 3 without purchasing a copy.

Additionally, Starbreeze has confirmed four major Payday 3 DLC expansions, making their way into the game in the next 12 months. It’s possible that none of the DLCs will be free for Payday 3, much like Payday 2’s DLCs.

Fans of the franchise had the opportunity to claim Payday 2 for free from the Epic Games Store during a brief period earlier this year. If Epic offers Payday 3 for free, we’ll make sure to provide an update here.
