Is Skull and Bones always online?

Skull and Bones has plenty of co-op and PvP modes, but it can be played entirely solo without having to group up. But what about always online requirements? Here’s whether the pirate adventure needs a constant internet connection. 

Skull and Bones puts greater emphasis on multiplayer gameplay, with the game featuring a shared world. The PvP aspects in Skull and Bones are entirely opt-in and only trigger when you accept certain contracts. It can be played solo and you can also clear most of the content alone.

But plenty of Ubisoft’s titles that have similar multiplayer aspects, like The Divison or The Crew, need constant internet connections.

Can you play Skull and Bones offline?

Skull and Bones is always an online game, and you’ll need an internet connection even if you’re playing solo. 

Even though you can opt out completely of the PvP or co-op aspect, you’ll need to be online. Skull and Bones had PvP as a priority when it was first announced back in E3 2017. Ever since it has been delayed around six times and has been rebooted, and now the game has an equal emphasis on the PvE aspect.

Skull and Bones leans more towards MMO-online titles like The Division, as it is said to feature an extensive endgame, than pure single-player games like most of Assassin’s Creed. This also means there is less chance that it’ll ever get any sort of offline play.
