Warhorse Studios have revealed a new trailer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 during Summer Game Fest 2024, and have shown what players can expect while exploring the sequel of the 2018 medieval RPG.

If you’re curious to know more Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, here is everything known so far.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 release window

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be released by the end of 2024, as confirmed during the official game reveal video.

The devs are yet to provide a concrete release date, but they have confirmed that it’ll be dropping this year.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 platforms

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

The game looks set to skip the last generation of consoles, which is hardly surprising considering the original had its fair share of performance struggles on PS4 and Xbox One. With the sequel amping things up in the visuals department, it’s easy to see why the devs have decided to stick with current-gen machines.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 story & setting

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 takes place in 15th-century Bohemia, a medieval setting drenched in civil war and internal strife. Warhorse Studios’ title promises a more historically accurate representation of the period, as it seeks to describe the politics within small villages and depict conflicts between kingdoms.

The sequel continues the story of Henry, who became an acclaimed knight during the first title. His next chapter will take place in the city of Kuttenberg, which is described as one of the richest cities in medieval Europe.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s open world is twice the size of the original.

The devs described this new story as “more cinematic,” offering plot twists that can catch players off-guard and force them to make crucial decisions.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 gameplay

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is primarily a first-person RPG paired with third-person story cutscenes. It features many staple RPG features such as branching dialogue, skill trees, interactive NPCs that react to your actions, and more.

However, other fundamental features of the genre such as character creation or classes are not included in the game. Despite the lack of classes, players can role-play through their actions: for instance, they can go on pickpocketing sprees and live out their days as a thief or focus on combat and play as a knight. Their decisions affect Henry’s reputation, which alters how NPCs treat him.

The combat system prioritizes realism and can be unforgiving if players don’t spend time honing their skills. Battles play out like intense duels with the focus being on timed attacks as opposed to long combos or flashy moves.

Defeating an enemy is all about finding the chink in their armor and exploiting that weakness. Judging by the snippets of combat showing off during the game reveal, the fights look to be as bloody as the original with some new animations for various maneuvers and finishers.

Most weapons in the game are melee-based, ranging from swords and spears to axes and bows. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also introduces Crossbows and medieval firearms.
