Like a Dragon, also known as the Yakuza franchise, has been one of the most influential Japanese games of all time, and it’s also set to be one of the biggest 2024 releases. It is the eighth mainline game in the franchise, set right after Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
After the release of The Man Who Erased His Name, which sets all players in motion with Kazuma Kiryu’s story, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth follows Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza 7 as well and features a new location and multiple protagonists.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth was released on January 26, 2024. With Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name out on November 8, 2023, Ichiban’s new adventure is the second title in the Yakuza franchise to be released within three months.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth platforms
SEGA released Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth on both the old and new-gen consoles, and the game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC. There has been no announcement about its release on handheld platforms like the Nintendo Switch, but the game is Steam Deck-ready and available on Valve’s portable PC.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth setting
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth features the two main protagonists of the franchise, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu. The story revolves around the life of Kasuga, who is searching for his long-lost mother.
Now he travels to Honolulu, Hawaii, the first foreign location in the franchise, in search of his mother to get his life back on track. This is the biggest map in the franchise’s history alongside several other Japanese cities.
However, he is not alone, as he travels alongside Kazuma Kiryu, one of the most iconic characters of the Yakuza franchise, to face the difficult challenges posed by the world of Infinite Wealth in search of redemption.
The story follows a turn-based RPG pattern just like the previous Like a Dragon title. Players can participate in various activities such as karaoke, mini-games, and side missions, alongside the main quest.

As with every title in the Yakuza franchise, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth features a handful of side content to do while exploring, and varies from side stories to new mini-games. Dondoko Island and Sujimon Battle and some of ’em, and these will reminisce players of Animal Crossing and Pokemon.
Ichiban will get its own Sujimon to battle out in a new story mode, and use those very same “‘mons” to produce and manage a Vacation Resort. Dondoko Island is one of the best ways to earn cash fast and early in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, so be sure to check it out as soon as you unlock it.
