Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 devs promise fix after mixing up Cuban and Puerto Rican flags
Insomniac GamesSpider-Man 2 players have noticed a flag mix-up in the game, with a Cuban flag replacing the Puerto Rican flag in the Morales home, to which Insomniac replied that it will soon be fixed.
Both gamers and reviewers praised Spider-Man 2 upon its release, but Insomniac are still working to address some post-launch issues. They’ve already released a massive day one patch for the game that fixes several bugs and adds some new features. However, the devs are yet to fix a major mix-up involving two national flags.
Miles Morales‘ house has a Cuban flag instead of a Puerto Rican one, and fans shared their shock online. The Morales are of Puerto Rican descent, but a Cuban flag can be found hanging in Miles’ home.
Insomniac appear to have messed up the color scheme and added the incorrect flag. The Cuban and Puerto Rican flags are almost identical, except for the color scheme. The Cuban flag has a red triangle with blue stripes whereas the Puerto Rican one has a blue triangle with red stripes.
One of the earliest Spider-Man 2 players to spot this oversight was Redditor ‘TheHouselessTurtle,’ who wondered why the Cuban flag was being displayed in the Morales house.
“Can anybody explain why there is a Cuban flag inside and outside of the Miles Morales apartment when he and Rio are Puerto Rican?” They asked, adding, “And very proud about it in the previous game.”
The discussion would then spill over to Twitter as well, with multiple users pointing out the glaring error. One user found it odd that Insomniac could have confused the flags in the Morales home since there’s also a suit bearing the Puerto Rican flag in Spider-Man 2.
Some fans went on to notify Insomniac about the error and asked them to fix it. One Twitter user contacted Insomniac director James Stevenson, asking the dev team to fix the mistake.
“You guys did a great job on Miles Morales the game representing the Puerto Rican culture including our flag. In Spider-Man 2 @insomniacgames inadvertently put a Cuban flag in Miles’s house. Could you let the development team know so they can fix it? Thanks.”
Stevenson quickly replied to the post and stated that a “fix is coming for that.” So, it’s only a matter of time before Insomniac adds another patch to fix up the flags in Spider-Man 2.
