It’s been a long wait for Nintendo fans since Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced in 2017, only for the game to remain stuck in limbo for seven years. The June 2024 Nintendo Direct finally offered an update, revealing the upcoming Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond release window

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will arrive in 2025, as confirmed by Nintendo during a June 18 Direct.

Metroid fans have found news for upcoming titles hard to come by since the release of Metroid Prime Remastered in 2023, but that all changed with Beyond details.

Platforms

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is confirmed to arrive on the Nintendo Switch.

However, the question on everyone’s minds is whether the new Metroid title will make its way to the Nintendo Switch successor. The Switch successor is expected to arrive in 2025, but Nintendo have yet to give any indication that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be available on the new system.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond gameplay first look

Fans got their first look at gameplay from the June 2024 Nintendo Direct trailer of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

The trailer takes players to a research facility where Samus takes on several Space Pirate enemies. In terms of gameplay, we get a first look at the classic combination of first-person battles and third-person adventuring.

The HUD is on full display when taking on enemies in the first-person perspective. Samus’ iconic Arm Cannon takes center stage when it comes to the first-person shooter perspective in the trailer. Players can look forward to blasting enemies away with a variety of weapons

Meanwhile, Samus’ ever-useful Morph Ball form is used to explore key areas in the trailer. Players also get a first look at Sylux, the bounty hunter who had a major antagonistic role in Metroid Prime: Hunters.

The first gameplay trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond arrived on June 18 during a Nintendo Direct showcase. The trailer features a mix of cinematic shots and a look at gameplay that showcase the setting and threats that players will face as Samus Aran.
