Who is Nicole Demara in Zenless Zone Zero?

Zenless Zone Zero players can get free characters by simply playing the main campaign just like in other HoYoverse titles, and Nicole Demara is one of the first units you get.

Nicole has been around since ZZZ was first announced and can accompany you on various missions, so here’s everything you need to know about her.

Faction & backstory

Nicole Demara is the leader of the Cunning Hares faction. She spent many years on the streets of New Eridu and now accepts all kinds of odd jobs related to Hollows.

Nicole took Anby in to show her the ropes of the business, although she’s not very good at handling money, according to her official description.

Abilities

• Cunning Combo (Basic Attack) – Unleashes up to five strikes, dealing Ether damage.
  • Do As I Please (Sub-Attack) – When Nicole’s weapon has ammo, Basic ATK also fires bullets, dealing increased damage to enemies in a larger area.
• Sugarcoated Bullet (Special Attack) – Unleashes a ranged attack against enemies in front, dealing Ether damage. Anti-Interrupt level is increased while using this skill.
  • Stuffed Sugarcoated Bullet (EX Special Attack) – When Nicole has enough energy, she can unleash a powerful ranged attack, generating an energy field that pulls enemies toward its center to deal Ether damage. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
• Speed Demon (Dodge) – A rapid dodge that makes Nicole invulnerable. Holding down Dodge will make her leap into mid-air.
  • Jack in the Box (Dash Attack) – Dashes at the target location and strikes nearby enemies, dealing Ether damage. When the weapon has ammo, this attack also fires bullets, dealing increased damage. If Nicole doesn’t move during a dodge, she’ll vault backward and launch a ranged attack against enemies in front, dealing Ether damage. Nicole reloads her weapon after the attack.
  • Diverted Bombard (Dodge Counter) – Vaults backward and launches a ranged attack against enemies in front, dealing Ether damage. Nicole reloads her weapon after the vault. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
• Ether Shellacking (Chain Attack) – Unleashes a powerful ranged attack and generates an energy field that pulls enemies towards its center and deals Ether damage. Character is invulnerable while using this skill.
• Ether Grenade (Ultimate) – Unleashes a powerful ranged attack that generates an energy field that pulls enemies toward its center, dealing Ether damage. Nicole is invulnerable while using this skill.

Nicole is the only Ether Attribute character in ZZZ at launch, and she’s a Support agent with a Strike Fighting Style.

As one of the first Agents you’ll get, Nicole is a pretty straightforward unit. Her most important abilities can gather many enemies in one place, allowing more powerful Agents to strike a finishing blow. However, Nicole’s most important aspect is her Attribute, as she’s the only Ether character at launch.

Nicole’s information comes from the Closed Beta Tests so the details above might change. For example, she was a Physical Attribute character in the beta but was changed to Ether in the full release.

Talents

• Supercharged Bomb (TA) – The DMG and the Anomaly Buildup inflicted by Nicole’s EX Special Attack increases by 16%. For each additional 0.1s of charging when Nicole activates her EX Special Attack, the duration of the energy field created at the target location increases by 0.15s.
• Charging Device (TB) – When Nicole hits an enemy with her Basic Attack or Dash Attack, the attack’s Energy Generation Rate is increased by 15%.
• A Hare’s Cunning (TC) – Basic Attack, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
• Field Expansion (TD) – When Nicole uses her EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate, the diameter of the energy field generated is increased by 3m.
• Industry Star (TE) – Basic Attack, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
• Corrupting Energy Field (TF) – When Nicole’s energy fields deal DMG to an enemy, the target’s Anomaly Buildup RES is reduced by 2.2%, stacking up to 20 times and lasting 12s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Talents work like Genshin Impact‘s Constellations or HSR‘s Eidolons, meaning you’ll need to pull the same character many times to get all of them.
