This does indicate that the Cyberpunk-themed game will be quite demanding, especially as it’s a AAA game running on Unreal Engine 5. Having said that, there are some gameplay details that we know of already, so let’s dive into them.
Off The Grid gameplay details
Gunzilla Games and Neill Blomkamp’s new multiplayer shooter is said to be a third-person, 150-player battle royale game, with a dystopian, Cyberpunk theme. Players will fight on a “dystopian tropical island,” where the map changes in real-time in response to certain in-game actions.
According to the Gunzilla Games blog, Off The Grind is unlike any battle royale out there, as it aims to “evolve the genre through a strong emphasis on narrative progression, giving players the freedom to control the story and impact the gameplay with each decision they make.”
The most unique aspect of Off The Grid is the narrative, which the devs are claiming is essential to the way in which players will “craft, customize, and trade their in-game items with each other.”
Off The Grid will have both PVE and PVP aspects of the game, as players will be selecting factions to be a part of and also completing “head-spinning assassination and sabotage missions” in order to gain rewards and benefit their chosen faction.
Off The Grid teaser trailer
Within the teaser trailer, although not much is shown, we do get a glimpse at a weapon, which looks like a futuristic AK-47. During this scene, the character shown in the trailer also extends a blade from their arm, perhaps indicating an emphasis on close-range melee combat.
We also got a look at a city towards the end of the trailer, so perhaps this is the setting for the BR map. Of course, this is just speculation, but as more information is revealed about the gameplay, we will be sure to update this piece.
