PlayStation acquires Savage Game Studios to develop mobile titles
PlayStation have acquired yet another game development studio, Savage Game Studios, in a bid to push their mobile gaming efforts forward.
Microsoft has been making big moves within the gaming industry, acquiring Activision and Bethesda, which are both massively popular studios with multiple AAA games.
Amazon were also rumored to have put in an offer to acquire EA. With that said, PlayStation have also been increasing their capacity, partnering with Destiny’s Bungie, Insomniac, and Bluepoint Games.
It seems PlayStation are not finished either, as they are now looking to expand their presence in the mobile gaming community, which is a constantly evolving and growing market. We’ve seen mobile ports of games such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Call of Duty do exceptionally well, with Warzone set to arrive on mobile in the future
PlayStation have noticed this incredibly popular market, and are now looking to increase their mobile gaming efforts with the acquisition of Savage Game Studios.
Savage Game Studios has been incredibly successful since being founded in 2020, and are entirely focused on mobile game development, with the developers having produced “a number of massively successful global IP.”
PlayStation has formed a new “Mobile Division,” which Savage Game Studios will join. In the PlayStation blog, Herman Hulst, the Head of PlayStation Studios, made it clear that this new mobile division “will operate independently from our console development and focus on innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IP.”
This is an opportunity for PlayStation to expand their audience even further, as the mobile gaming community is bigger than it has ever been.
PlayStation also shared that Savage Game Studios is actually working on a “new unannounced AAA mobile live service action game,” so stay tuned on Charlie Intel for more information.
