Take-Two Interactive’s CEO has given some indication as to the whereabouts of GTA 6 with Rockstar’s long-awaited sequel yet to be confirmed.

One of the most asked questions in the world always seems to repeat itself, “when is Grand Theft Auto 6 going to be announced?” It seems with every passing month that it’s only a matter of time. Yet here we eight years after the release of the mega-successful GTA 5, and there is still nothing official.

The internet and social media are plagued by constant rumors such as Rockstar employee leaks, potential reveal trailers, and secret patents. The slightest mention of the new GTA game gets the blood plumping for die-hard enthusiasts of the series, which is why the latest statement could be regarded as very interesting.

During the recent Morgan Stanley’s Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick answered a question that was always begging to crop up.

When a potential investor questioned Zelnick on the possibility of GTA VI being announced he said, “Right, so, Rockstar hasn’t announced any new titles for the market and when there’s an announcement to be made it’ll come from Rockstar, so I’ll probably leave you there and I don’t think you would have expected anything else.”

The video was posted by Reddit user Elena_xoxo and the news is probably not what fans were hoping for in any way. All it does is continue the back-and-forth discussion about the whereabouts of the game, and the reasons.

One of the main reasons for its delay is undoubtedly the unbelievable success of GTA Online as it continues to flourish and make millions so many years later. The mode was on the receiving end of a huge content boost recently with the addition of the Cayo Perico Heist expansion.

Combined with the enormous sales of GTA 5, Rockstar, and Take-Two, are not in any rush to pump out another game. Though, the longer the wait goes on, the more it makes fans question if they’ll ever see the sixth game in the series.
