Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance release date

SMT 5 Vengeance platforms

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance story

Unlike most SMT games, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has two different story paths, branching in different directions. While one of them is the original setting and story of SMT 5, called “Canon of Creation,” the other is a brand-new path, titled “Canon of Vengeance.”

The new story is centered around the fallen, and their plot for revenge against the gods with a coalition of demons known as Qaditsu. However, the main character is simply a high-school student who gets wrapped into this mess unexpectedly one day, as he collapses while returning home from his class.

The protagonist opens his eyes in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, now known as Da’at, plagued with vicious demons from hell. Before the demons can claim his life, a mysterious savior comes to his rescue, uniting with him to become a Nahobino, a powerful being.

Now it’s up to you to control your newly found powers and make your own path in the war among angels and demons.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance gameplay

Just like previous SMT titles, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance has a turn-based combat system. Aside from the obvious, SMT 5 Vengeance also applies a new ultimate move system where you can unleash powerful finishing moves that either guarantee critical hits do a ton of damage, or just boost team stats.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance also focuses on the exploration aspect of the game, as players can more often than not stumble upon some great items by simply exploring. Speaking of exploration, Vengeance also allows players to manually save the game at any point in time, like Baldur’s Gate 3, so players can enjoy the freedom of seamless exploration.

Does SMT 5 Vengeance have multiplayer?

No, there is no multiplayer mode in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. As it follows the original SMT formula, the entire experience is a single-player journey. However, do note that players are able to team up with other characters in the game itself and form a party.
