Gameplay and story details

Still Wakes the Deep is set on an oil rig just off the coast of Scotland in 1975. You play as Caz McLeary, who is tasked with figuring out what unknowable horror has killed most of his crewmates.

The game is a narrative-focused psychological horror, where you don’t have much besides your wits to escape an unknown creature, collapsing tunnels, and a sinking rig. The ocean will be among your enemies, too, as it rips apart the structure you’re trapped on while trying to escape.

It’s a first-person game that has a pretty short run time of about six hours, according to its Steam page, and you need to try and navigate an oil rig that changes the longer you continue with the story.

Players have no weapons and no powers, and the only way you’ll be able to survive is to use sneaking and distraction to get past the nightmare you’re trying to escape from.
