Here’s what we know about The Elder Scrolls VI so far, including potential release dates, platform availability, and more.

The Elder Scrolls Online has been in constant development since its release in 2015.

The Elder Scrolls VI expected release window

During an interview in September 2023, Todd Howard finally confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI won’t see the light of day until, at the very least, 2026.

This was further confirmed by another interview that Vandal released with Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Head of Publishing, who confirmed in September 2023 that Elder Scrolls VI has just entered the early stages of development.

The Elder Scrolls VI platforms

Due to a development in the conflict between Microsoft and the US FTC, it has been revealed that The Elder Scrolls VI won’t be available on PS5. It is expected that The Elder Scrolls VI will launch exclusively on PC and Xbox hardware.

Before this development, Bethesda Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard discussed the availability of The Elder Scrolls VI and he commented that the possibility of the game being PC-exclusive was “hard to imagine.”

The Elder Scrolls VI gameplay & story details

As of September 2023, we don’t have too many details about gameplay features or story details for The Elder Scrolls VI.

At the 2020 Develop: Brighton conference, Todd Howard sat down to discuss what was going on with Bethesda and provided some updates on their game engine and how it would affect The Elder Scrolls VI.

Concerning the updated game engine, he said, “It’s taken us longer than we would have liked, but it’s going to power everything we’re doing with Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6. When people see the results, they’ll hopefully be as happy as we are with what’s on the screen and also how we can go about making our games.”

We don’t have too many details about the game engine that Bethesda are using in the development of Elder Scrolls VI, but according to this, we can presume it would be the very same used for Starfield.

It’s safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls VI will still largely follow in the footsteps of previous games in the series by providing a core-RPG experience. But don’t be surprised if it delivers the very first multiplayer experience in the core games.

As concrete information begins to roll out, we’ll be updating this page with fresh information regarding The Elder Scrolls VI.
