The Game Awards 2020: Start time, new games, multiple CoD nominations
Gaming’s most prestigious award-ceremony returns for a 2020 edition. We have all the information on its start time, rumors about new games, and nominations for Call of Duty.
It’s not quite of the stature of say the Academy Awards, but it’s still a huge deal nonetheless. The Gaming Awards is where we recognize all the hard work and effort put into the year’s biggest games.
Expect to see some exciting game announcements and details and also find out how Call of Duty fares in the multiple categories it’s been nominated in.
The Game Awards start time
Due to the ongoing circumstances that are sadly plaguing the world at the moment, the ceremony will not be conducted in front of a live audience. However, its creator – Geoff Keighly – will be presenting them virtually.
The show will take place across studios in London, Lo Angeles, and Tokyo – so no expense has been spared. Brie Larson and Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot are just some of the A-list names that are scheduled to present at the show.

- GMT – 11:30pm
How can I watch it?
With or without a live audience, The Game Awards is a special, annual occasion that gamers all over the world love to watch and tune in live. It’s not just all about the awards, in-between the awards and nominations new games are regularly shown off to much surprise and joy.
For instance, the bumper 2018 edition showed-off: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Far Cry: New Dawn, Mortal Kombat 11, and one of this year’s hottest games – Hades.

Given that we’re now very much in that hot, early period for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it wouldn’t be a shock to see at least one groundbreaking announcement.
Call of Duty Nominated
The industry’s leading first-person shooter franchise has rightfully been nominated for multiple awards and it’s a sign that all these years later the Call of Duty banner is still as strong as ever.
The last year has seen the rise and dominance of Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Warzone, Call of Duty: Mobile, and most recently Black Ops Cold War.
These are all the nomations for Call of Duty:
- Best Ongoing: Warzone
- Best Mobile Game: Call of Duty: Mobile
- Best Multiplayer: Warzone
- Best eSports Game: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
There are also some associated awards such as the Call of Duty League Championship being nominated for Best eSports event too.
Outside of the Call of Duty bubble, you’ll also find some major awards handed out for Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Performance, and more.
