How to beat Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer in V Rising
Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer is one of the strongest bosses you’ll find in V Rising. Since he’s Level 79 V Blood Boss, make sure you get at least to Gear Level 76 to stand a chance in combat.
Because he’s a swordsman, Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer will prefer attacking at close range with his two swords. Here’s a list of his attacks:
- Double Sword Attack: Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer wields two Sanguine Swords that he’ll use as a basic attack.
- Bat Summons: He summons bats that will dash at the opponent during his sword combos and cause damage over time.
- Whirlwind Blades: After reaching 75% HP, he’ll start spinning in circles with his swords pointed outwards, and will launch a swarm of blades at the player.
- Teleportation: Nightmarshal Styx will transform into a swarm of bats, teleport behind the player, and ambush them with a dash forward.
- Vampire summons: After reaching 50% HP, he’ll summon three vampires that attack with melee moves.
- Ultimate: When his HP drops to 20% HP, the Nightmarshal Styx will reduce the vision of the player an summon a large group of bat swarms to attack from all sides.
The best way to fight Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer is to keep him at a distance since most of his attacks are meant to be close-range. You can try using the Veil of Blood spell to get out of harm’s way swiftly.
You should also exterminate all of his summons as fast as you can, especially his Vampire spawns, which can easily swarm you. Consider using Ward of the Damned against his spawns, which will get you some Skeletons to help you against his undead allies.
If you choose to battle him at a distance, use a Crossbow along with the Chaos Volley ability, which will let you launch 2 Chaos Bolts in sequence that deals 125% magic damage and inflicts Chaos Burn.
