What is Black State? Everything we know about the hyper-realistic stealth shooter

Black State is set to be the first offering from Turkish-based video game developer Motion Blur. The game’s initial trailer introduced players to a gorgeous world powered by Unreal Engine 5, where they’ll have to use stealth mechanics to uncover a mystery.

If you’re a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, you’ll want to find out everything there is to know about this upcoming title. It’s set to incorporate gunplay, stealth elements, hyper-realistic visuals, and intricate bosses in one package.

Black State gameplay explained

Players can expect elements of third-person shooter gameplay, with a mix of action-adventure and espionage mixed in. These elements will be catapulted by the game’s “photo-realistic” visuals which can be seen in the official launch trailer below.

In terms of Black State’s story, you’ll control the protagonist working for scientists called the Architects. Your mission involves saving captives and unearthing the game’s mystery along the way.

One of the game’s most eye-catching features is its lack of loading screens. The devs promised that players can expect to “seamlessly transition between levels.” Given the graphical fidelity expected of Black State, this could prove to be an impressive accomplishment.

Motion Blur

Gunplay is another major feature of the game, and players can expect to “master a variety of guns and tactical gadgets.” With the espionage-oriented gameplay, these gadgets could be the key to sneaking around enemies. In addition, the TPS will feature high-pressure combat situations where time slows down, as seen in the trailer.

In terms of combat, you’ll be going up against both human enemies and robots. These enemies are said to possess “unique skills,” for sensing your presence. You’ll have the tough task of taking on covert missions without having enemies call in reinforcements.

Motion Blur have also emphasized the game’s boss fights that use “unique patterns and mechanics.” While we’ll have to wait to see exactly what this entails, but the devs said players must “adapt, learn, and exploit their weaknesses,” which instantly made me think of the Soulslike genre.

Does Black State have a release date?

There is currently no release date set for Black State. Motion Blur revealed the first official trailer on July 10, 2024, but the trailer did not include any info about its release.
