Who is Galactus’ daughter in Marvel Rivals? Galacta explained
NetEaseThe first trailer for Marvel Rivals arrived on March 27 and introduced a character that seemed new to many fans, but Galacta has actually been around for a while. So, who is she, and what is her role in the Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals is NetEase’s take on the format Overwatch popularized. The game is a 6v6 PvP hero shooter, but instead of new characters, you’ll be able to play as characters from the Marvel Universe.
One of the revealed characters who is coming to the game is Galacta, and much to the surprise of many fans who hadn’t heard of her before. So, who is Galacta really, and what will her role be in Marvel Rivals?
Who is Galacta in Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals’ Galacta is Galactus’ daughter, and she first appeared in April 2009’s Assistant-Sized Spectacular #2.
When the announcement trailer dropped, many fans were confused about Galacta, with some thinking that NetEase had decided to gender-swap Galactus. However, this is not the case, Galacta is just a relatively minor character in the Marvel Universe.
Galacta has spent her life hiding on Earth as a teenager named Gail. Unlike her father, she tends to use her powers for good and has protected Earth on numerous occasions. She still struggles with her cosmic hunger as her father does, but she is trying to find a way to stop it.
Galacta wasn’t born through conventional means. She grew inside of Galactus himself, leeching off the cosmic power he gets from consuming planets.
What could Galacta’s purpose be in Marvel Rivals?
Drawing from the Marvel Rivals announcement trailer, it looks like Galacta will be the announcer in the game.
In the trailer, Galacta makes a small appearance at the end. After the winners have been announced, she is revealed and surrounded by different universes. She taps one of these before announcing the next team.
From this, we can assume she will be the announcer. More excitingly, though, it also means we can expect more minor or less-known characters to make an appearance in the game from all across the multiverse.
This could also mean that she’ll play a pivotal role in the larger story of the game – perhaps she is the orchestrator of this world, and she decides who gets to take part in Marvel Rivals.
