Will Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 be open world?
Ninja TheorySenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is coming to PC and Xbox on May 21, but will it have the same linear approach as the first game? Here is everything we know about it, including if it’s going to have an open world.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Senua’s Sacrifice, and players are gearing up to play when it releases later on in May.
The first game’s story was quite linear, though, so the question hanging on everyone’s head is whether it will change in the sequel. So, here is everything we know about Senua’s Saga’s storyline.
Is Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 be open world?
No, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will not be an open world game. Much like the first, Ninja Theory have confirmed that the sequel will follow the same linear progression.
In fact, Senua’s Saga will also be a similar length to the first game, clocking in at around 8-10 hours to complete.
Will Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2’s gameplay be different?
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2‘s gameplay will not be very different, as it’s still a third-person action-adventure like it’s predecessor.
Ninja Theory has said that they have reworked the combat, so we can expect a different type of combat system from the first game’s simpler approach.
Hellblade 2 is still an equally narrative-driven experience, but the upgrades to both the studio and engine Ninja Theory are using in development have allowed them to focus more on combat mechanics to make it a little more engaging and fun to play.
The story will continue from the first game, where Senua traveled to the depths of Hell to save the soul of her lover, Dillion. Now, she will set out to confront the Viking marauders who are terrorizing her home in Iceland.
Ninja Theory has released a lot of info about the improved performance, gameplay, and audio, but they’ve stayed relatively silent about where the story will take us. That said, we know that it focuses solely on Senua’s journey, and she won’t be tasked with a ton of side quests and artifact locations.
