Wuthering Waves characters in version 1.0

Wuthering Waves players have lots of Echoes to collect, so here’s everything you need to know about them, including how to get them, what restrictions they have, and the full list of available Echoes in 1.0.

Wuthering Waves features plenty of materials to farm. Echoes are a key element in Wuthering Waves’ gameplay, and you’ll need the best of the best to beat the toughest challenges out there.

Here’s everything you need to know about Echoes in Wuthering Waves, from how to get them to the full list of each one.

What are Echoes in Wuthering Waves?

Echoes are items in Wuthering Waves that you can equip your characters with to get stat boosts alongside buffs and additional abilities.

They work like Artifacts in Genshin Impact or Relics in Honkai Star Rail. The Echo you equip first will appear at the top and will grant your character a brand-new ability.

These abilities can be brand-new attacks, healing skills, or buffs for the whole party. Each Echo has an Attribute associated with it. This means you can equip characters with abilities from other Attributes to expand their arsenal.

Sonata Effects are bonuses that activate when you equip two Echoes from the same set. These effects can be from different Attributes, depending on the Echo you equip.

To level Echoes up, you’ll need to spend specific materials. This is called tuning in Wuthering Waves, and it can unlock sub-stats for Echoes.

How to get Echoes in Wuthering Waves

To get Echoes in Wuthering Waves, you simply need to encounter and defeat monsters in the open world, and then absorb their Echoes.

You can do this by simply exploring the world and defeating all kinds of monsters. The stronger the enemy, the better the Echo you’ll get for defeating it. You don’t need to unlock any features, as absorbing Echoes is one of the first things you do while playing the initial tutorials.

It’s always best to match the character’s Attribute with the Echo’s Attribute.

What is Echo Cost in Wuthering Waves?

Each Resonator in Wuthering Waves has a maximum Cost that determines how many Echoes they can equip. The main character, Rover, starts the game with a cap of 8 Cost, but you can level that up to reach a maximum of 12 Cost.

Echoes can be of four different Classes, and each one comes with a Cost:

  • Common: 1 Cost
  • Elite: 3 Cost
  • Overlord: 4 Cost
  • Calamity: 4 Cost

To increase the Cost cap for your characters, you’ll need to get Data Bank XP.

How to get Data Bank XP in Wuthering Waves

You can earn Data Bank XP in Wuthering Waves by defeating new monsters, also known as Tacet Discords (TD). You’ll need to find and beat monsters from different rarities to get XP in your Data Bank, as defeating the same monster over and over won’t net you Data Bank XP.

After finishing the tutorials, you can head to the Data Bank via the main menu, and you’ll find rewards you can claim for unlocking Data Bank levels. This will increase your maximum Cost as well as your characters’ Stamina.

How to tune Echoes in Wuthering Waves

To tune Echoes in Wuthering Waves, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Open the Terminal (Main Menu).
  2. Go to Resonator.
  3. Head to the Echo tab and tap on an equipped Echo to open the full list.
  4. Select the Echo you want to tune and tap Upgrade.
  5. Upgrade the Echo to at least Level 5 to be able to access the Tuning tab.
  6. Add materials and press the Tuning button.

To tune Echoes, you’ll need Tuners of the same rarity as the Echo you selected. For 3-star Echoes, you need a Medium Tuner, 4-star Echoes need an Advanced Tuner, and 5-stars require a Premium Tuner. You can’t tune 1-star and 2-star Echoes, so keep that in mind.

You can get Tuners by exploring the world and completing Tacet Field Cleanups. These activities require you to spend Waveplates, so keep that in mind. If you have enough Tuners, you can unlock more than one sub-stats at once. You’ll unlock more tuning possibilities every 5 Levels you upgrade each Echo.
