After much pleading from the players over the years, Genshin Impact introduced the Imaginarium Theater, a new endgame mode that will put Traveler’s abilities to the test in timed challenges.

Here’s everything about the new Fantasy Realm Epic Poem Abyss and the Imaginarium Theater mode in Genshin Impact.

What is Imaginarium Theater in Genshin Impact?

Imaginarium Theater is an endgame mode that was released during the second phase of Genshin Impact version 4.7.

Like the current Spiral Abyss, it’ll reward Primogems and other resources and will be refreshed every certain interval.

    Genshin Impact Imaginarium Theater explained

The Imaginarium Theater will follow a season format with a new version of the mode to be released every month in Genshin Impact.

    How to unlock Imaginarium Theater

You can unlock the Imaginarium Theater after reaching Adventure Rank 35 and complete the Unbegun, Unending Story. After that you’ll unlock the Secret Library in Mondstadt.

To enter the Imaginarium Theater, go to the library and look for the Fantasia Tome. When you interact with it, you’ll be able to start the challenge.

    Stages

The Imaginarium Theater has up to eight Acts that will end after defeating the Villains in the story. These enemies are Jadeplume Terrorshroom, Rimebiter Bathysmal Vishap, Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap, and Icewind Suite.

There are three difficulty levels with specific requirements, and the Villain’s level will vary depending on the settings each Act. In Season 1, players will have to pick a team with only Anemo, Pyro and Electro characters.

    Making a team

You’ll need to first pick all six Opening Characters and eight Alternate Cast members before challenging the Imaginarium Theater. The Opening characters will be designated to the Principal Cast and will gain Fantastical Blessings or special buffs that will affect them inside and outside of the Imaginarium Theater.

During the first season of the Imaginarium Theater, the Principal Cast will gain Fantastical Blessings which grants your party Max HP and a 20% increase to their Attack, and Def stats.

Among the Alternate Cast members, you can choose a Special Guest character, which won’t need to meet the challenge requirements. Keep in mind that you can only use characters that you already own.

Players can also borrow their friends’ characters and use them as Supporting Cast characters when challenging the Imaginarium Theater. These characters need to meet the existing challenge requirements and can be used up to 15 times each season.

    Events

The Imaginarium Theater has four events that you can choose from:

    • Battle Event: It challenges you to defeat certain enemies that will end the current Act you’re playing.
    • Companion Event: Lets you add a character from the Alternate Cast Characters to your main team.
    • Mystery Cache: Allows you to change Fantasia Flowers for two event cards that can have special effects on the other Events.
    • Wondrous Boon Event: You can choose between a number of randomized Wondrous Boon cards that will give your team buffs within the Challenge. However, you’ll need to complete its challenges to activate them.

Vigor System in the Imaginarium Theater

The Imaginarium Theater mode introduces its own Vigor System, which gives characters two stacks of Vigor. These stacks deplete after each battle, and characters can’t fight once it’s fully depleted.

    Fantasia Flowers

You can use Fantasia Flowers to select other acts in the Imaginarium Theater, such as Companion Events, Wondrous Boons, or Myster Cache. To get them you’ll have to complete the Battle Objectives listed in each Act.

    Restrictions

Each season will have a theme that restricts the characters you can pick—there will be six Opening Characters that you must pick and all characters have to belong to three Elements (Pyro, Electro, and Anemo for the first season).

The Opening Characters for the first season are Beidou, Wanderer, Chevreuse, Arlecchino, Sayu, and Clorinde. If you do not own these characters, you’ll get a trial version similar to some combat events.

There will also be support characters that you’re not obligated to use, but they all fall outside of these restrictions. Baizhu, Sigewinne, Alhaitham, and Wriothesley are the supporting cast for the first season, and they do not belong to either Pyro, Electro, or Anemo.
