Grand Theft Auto 5 is returning to Xbox Game Pass in April

The never-ending popularity of Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to continue as Microsoft has announced that the sandbox title will be free for Xbox Game Pass members in April.

If you’re one of the few individuals that still hasn’t had a chance to get your hands on Rockstar’s titanic open-world masterpiece, then you’re in luck. As it was revealed that the hugely successful game will be free for subscribers of Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.

As of February 9, 2021 Grand Theft Auto V had sold over 140 million copies of the game, with new players discovering its hours of entertainment each year.

What is Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s subscription-only service, offers players the chance to enjoy hundreds of games for a small monthly fee.

The game has previously been part of Xbox Game Pass but was removed in favor of Rockstar’s other open-world extravaganza – Red Dead Redemption 2.

Grand Theft Auto 5 will be available on Xbox Game Pass from April 8.

The announcement came directly from an Official Xbox Game Pass blog post showing off its marquee game, along with many other reveals.

When discussing the game, the post says, “When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber, and a terrifying psychopath find themselves entangled with some of the most frightening and deranged elements of the criminal underworld, the U.S. government, and the entertainment industry, they must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a ruthless city in which they can trust nobody, least of all each other.”

Since its 2013 launch, Grand Theft Auto 5 has aschieved great success and has become the most usccessful piece of media in history thanks to its sales and revenue from GTA Online.

Its Online component has kept players coming back for many years now with its profitbaility garnering a rerelease on a third generation of gaming consoles.
