A notable Grand Theft Auto leaker has claimed that Rockstar Games are aiming for “photorealism” when working on the highly-anticipated GTA 6.

Ever since GTA 6 was confirmed to be in production by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto fans have been hoping for more details about the highly-anticipated sequel to be officially revealed.

While official information about the game has been scarce, numerous leaks and reports have revealed details about the main character and location. Now, a new leak may have given a hint about how the game will look.

Rockstar Games strive to achieve groundbreaking visuals in their games, and titles like Grand Theft Auto V as well as Red Dead Redemption 2 have received wide acclaim in that regard. It seems that this will also be the case with GTA 6.

Prominent insider ‘Tez2’ claimed in GTA forums that Rockstar Games have extremely ambitious plans for the visual presentation of Grand Theft Auto 6, as the game will be “very much into photorealism.”

This could be achieved through improved ray tracing, highly-detailed textures, more prominent shadows, as well as other innovative changes. This would have to be done in a way that wouldn’t negatively affect the game’s performance.

This lines up with the announcement from Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive that the game will set creative benchmarks. Achieving photorealism could be one way for the game to do that.

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is just a leak, as Tez2 claims to have received this information from a friend that reportedly talked to a former Rockstar dev. So, take this information with a grain of salt.
