Covert Research is Lab Rat’s counter to Handshake’s Reclamation and the entire situation will ask the player to make a difficult choice among them. So here’s how to complete Covert Research in Gray Zone Warfare.

Covert Research is one of the main tasks in Gray Zone Warfare that will make you decide between Lab Rat or Handshake after he gives you the Reclamation task. To complicate things even more, players can only complete either of them and by doing so, they’ll forfeit the rewards of the other mission.

Covert Research cargo location in Gray Zone Warfare

As you accept both Reclamation and Covert Research in Gray Zone Warfare, you can head over to a Fortified Hideout in the local town to get the valuable cargo needed to complete this task. However, the exact location of the cargo is different for each faction in the game.

Here’s the exact coordinates of the hideout in Gray Zone Warfare for each faction:

• Mithras Security Systems (Nam Thaven): Intersection of (168, 117), (169, 117) and (168, 116)
• Crimson Shield International (Kiu Vongsa): 142, 165
• Lamang Recovery Initiative (Pha Lang): 204, 162

Although the coordinates are different for each faction, the hideout looks more or less the same for every instance. Whenever you find a guarded house on top of a hill, that is greyish in color with red spray-painted markings on it. As usual, take out the guards you see at the entrance and around the hideout and make your way in.

How to get the cargo in Gray Zone Warfare

Here are the steps involved in finding the cargo after entering the hideout in Gray Zone Warfare:

1. Head inside the Fortified Hideout and make your way to the second floor.
2. Get inside the room with the closed door at the top.
3. Look at the end of the bed to find the metal container and grab it.

The task objective is a 2×2 item that weighs 30 lbs, so make sure you have enough space in your inventory. Now that you finally have the cargo, here comes the difficult part.

If you want to complete the Covert Research exclusively, hand it over to Lab Rat. However, handling the cargo over to Handshake will put an end to the Reclamation quest.

Should you hand the cargo over to Handshake or Lab Rat in Gray Zone Warfare?

If you are looking for some decent loot in Gray Zone Warfare’s early game, choose Handshake and complete Reclamation as you get some useful gear siding with him. In the meantime, Lab Rat will give you a lot of medical supplies in return.

However, other than that there are no additional benefits of choosing either of them for these tasks. Either way, the outcome is more or less similar as the opposite party will always be unsatisfied with your judgment.
