After more than 10 years since its release, GTA Online is still delivering high player counts, keeping its player base occupied with new content. If you’re wondering how many people play GTA Online in April 2024, here’s all you need to know.

GTA Online still remains the prime attraction for players with its intriguing heists and a massive lineup of vehicles, as they wait for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 which is set to be released next year. This has enabled both GTA V and Online to consistently rank high in the Steam charts.

On that note, here’s everything you need to know about GTA Online’s player count in April 2024.

GTA Online 2024 Steam player count

According to Steam Charts, GTA Online has averaged a total of 97,368 players, from March 25 to April 24, with peak players being 169,535. At the time, of writing, 130,561 players were online in the game just an hour ago.

However, keep in mind Steam only makes up a fraction of GTA Online’s player base. The game is also available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store, so the complete numbers taking into account every other platform would be quite high.

What is GTA Online’s peak player count?

GTA Online hit an all-time peak player count of 360,761 back in April 2015 — when it first arrived on PC. The next highest peak player count was over 267,000 in February 2020.

It’s safe to say that GTA Online isn’t ‘dead,’ with the game having a healthy player base across Steam and Epic Games, and the next-gen edition likely brought in hundreds of thousands more.
