After many months of wondering and speculating, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Rockstar Games have unveiled the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition. Not only that, but it will be releasing in 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC

Rockstar Games fans will need to prep themselves as it will soon be time to jump back into the worlds of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas thanks to the newly-announced GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

It can’t be said how culturally and financially impactful the original PS2-era GTA games were. They set Rockstar off on a career-defining path that would launch them into the stratosphere and turn them into of the biggest video game companies in the world.

Now, 20 years since the release of the ground-breaking Grand Theft Auto III, Rockstar is celebrating the original trilogy by remastering GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas.

It may not be the Grand Theft Auto VI announcement that players are waiting for worldwide, but a proper remastering of three hugely influential titles should appease fans.

A new Tweet from the official Rockstar Games account has finally made one of the worst-kept secrets in video gaming a reality.

A wordless Tweet containing a 25-second video hints at all three PS2-era games before confirming that the game will be called “Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy: Definitive Edition.”

Rockstar Games also posted to their official blog saying: “In honor of the upcoming anniversary, today we are excited to announce that all three games will be coming to current generation platforms later this year in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC.”

Older versions of these GTA games will be removed shortly from various digital platforms as they will make way for the new definitive versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas.

Also, Android and iOS versions of the Trilogy will be coming at a slightly later date sometime in 2022.
