GTA 6 could be the series’ biggest and most ambitious game, clocking in at 500 hours to complete and spanning multiple continents, according to industry analyst Michael Pachter.

Rumors surrounding GTA 6 have been circulating for years, and they’ve only intensified since Rockstar confirmed that the long-awaited sequel is officially in development.

Everything from the possible release date to the next location the franchise will be set in has been speculated, but the devs themselves have remained as tight-lipped as ever.

Industry analyst Michael Pachter claims to have information regarding GTA 6, and it hints at one of the most ambitious projects in recent memory.

Speaking in his March 7 video, Pachter claimed that despite the recent announcement, GTA 6 has actually “been in development since 2014,” just one year after GTA 5’s initial release. The team also supposedly began writing code as early as 2015.

He went on to reveal that GTA 6’s map will span multiple continents, and feature fan-favorite locations from the franchise’s long history. “My understanding is that it is a mashup of Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City (GTA III), and Europe. London for sure,” Pachter noted.

If true, this would mark a huge step up in scale for the GTA series. Until now, each game has largely focused on a single city and its surrounding areas, like Los Santos and San Andreas County in GTA 5.

This enormous scope will unsurprisingly impact how long it will take to complete GTA 6’s campaign.

“It’ll probably be a 400-500 hour game by the time they get out,” Pachter continued. “You’re going to have to carry drugs from London to LA, and you’re going to have to go through the port in Miami.”

Unfortunately, Pachter was unable to shed any light on a possible release date, but he did say that development on the next GTA would take “10 years or more” to complete.

As always with information of this kind, take these claims lightly until Rockstar fully reveals GTA 6 with a trailer. There’s no doubt, however, that a globe-hopping story in GTA 6 would be exactly the sort of innovation that fans would get behind.
