While Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has been extremely well received, players have been less than impressed with the Battle Pass progression system. 343 Industries promised change would be on the way, and they’ve now given a major boost to XP earned for playing matches.

Following on from some of the biggest games on the market, Halo Infinite has adopted the free-to-play model, using Battle Passes and paid cosmetics to bring in cash. While the core gameplay has been adored by both new and long-time fans, players have taken issue with the Battle Pass progression system.

XP could only be earned through completing challenges, with 50 bonus XP awarded for each completed match. Unsatisfied with this system, players have been begging for change, and 343 Industries have now taken another major step in rewarding players for their time.

With Halo Infinite’s previous system, players would only get 50 XP per match. With each Battle Pass tier requiring 1,000 XP, without challenges, players would need to complete 20 games to reach the required amount of XP.

Now, Halo Infinite’s Community Manager John Junyszek has revealed the changes they have made to increase the Battle Pass progression rate.

He explained that even after making some changes, “we noticed that players were starting their sessions with slower payouts than we’d like. To address this, we will be increasing the XP payout for the first 6 matches of each day.”

After the November 30 update, players will earn much more XP for their first few matches of the day. Here’s a breakdown of the updated XP bonuses:

  • 1st Game = 300XP
  • 2nd Game = 200XP
  • 3rd Game = 200XP
  • 4th Game = 100XP
  • 5th Game = 100XP
  • 6th Game = 100XP
  • 7th+ Game = 50XP

Now, players can achieve the 1,000 XP just by playing six games a day – much fewer than the 20 previously required. However, it will tail off after these first six games.

Junyszek also said that “We know many of you want even larger changes and we’re committed to doing so, but those will take time.” They confirmed this change was made after player feedback, and they’ll be looking for more after these XP changes go live.
