Heavily requested in-game damage tracker coming to Apex Legends in Season 8

A senior Apex Legends developer has confirmed the long-requested in-game damage tracker will be coming to the game in Season 8.

The long-requested in-game damage tracker will be coming to Apex Legends early in Season 8, as confirmed by a senior developer.

For as long as Apex Legends has existed, players have been knocking on Respawn Entertainment’s door begging for an in-game damage tracker to be added to the game. After a match, players can see their elimination count and total damage, but can’t see their damage in-game.

Although kills are an important stat, damage values reveal who actually put in the work for that elimination. Overwatch has an in-game damage tracker, so Apex fans want this feature added to their game too.

Respawn confirmed in October that they were working on the in-game damage tracker, with Design Director Jason McCord saying, “it’s on a list!”

After months of begging and pleading from Apex Legends fans, McCord confirmed that the damage tracker is in sight.

Damage tracker coming in Season 8

On December 30, McCord asked fans if they could wait “one more week” for the tracker to be added before saying he spoke too soon.

Lifeline in Apex Legends

“Didn’t make the cutoff for this patch,” he said, then confirmed the damage tracker “should be in S8.”

So there it is! Fans only have a couple of months left to wait with Apex Legends Season 7 set to end in early February 2021.

The developers have also confirmed that Legend Wraith will be adjusted in the next season.

Potential issues with the in-game tracker

However, a Reddit user brought up how the tracker could do more harm than good for Apex Legends. “This would drive dysfunctional behavior,” said user SeymourDoggo. Players would, consciously or otherwise, “chase damage numbers instead of trying to win the game.”

Apex Legends Season 7

Another user who also plays Overwatch said that it leads to toxicity. Players will make fun of underperforming teammates based on their damage count. But with an elimination counter already being available, it probably wouldn’t change much. Toxic players will always be toxic, you just have to mute and move on.

Stay tuned to Charlie Intel as we’ll continue to update you with everything coming to Apex Legends in Season 8.

Apex Legends dev responds to concerns about Storm Point loot pool

Apex Legends’ Principle Level Designer has responded to fan concerns that there won’t be enough loot on Season 11’s new Storm Point map.

Apex Legends Season 11 will bring a brand new map to the game called Storm Point, and one developer has responded to fan concerns about the loot pool in this location.

Respawn have a plethora of exciting content planned for Apex Legends Season 11, including the new Legend Ash and C.A.R. SMG. There will also be a new map called Storm Point that players can battle on.

This new area is a tropical climate with beaches, blue waters, wildlife, and a variety of plants too. However, players are concerned that there won’t be enough loot on the map at launch.

Now, one Apex Legends developer has responded to these concerns.

Prowler in Apex Legends

Respawn’s lead game designer Rodney Reece previously worked on the World’s Edge map in Apex Legends and is now the lead designer on Storm Point. He responded to fan queries on Twitter about the loot pool in this new map.

Players complained that there wasn’t enough loot on World’s Edge when it first came out, but the dev insisted that the issue was just that players weren’t used to the map yet. He then reassured fans that they’ll find no shortage of loot on Storm Point.

“When World’s Edge launched, people thought there wasn’t enough loot, when in fact, there were 1k more than KC,” tweeted Reece. “The loot didn’t adjust until Harvester. I expect the same earlier feedback for Storm Point at launch. Trust me, there is plenty of loot on SP.”

When you first drop into a match of Apex Legends, you’ll immediately need to search for some high-tier loot so that you can improve your chances of securing victory. So, it’s reassuring to know that there will be plenty available when Storm Point arrives.

We got a closer look at the new tropical map in the Apex Legends Season 11 gameplay trailer. It’s even bigger than World’s Edge and contains plenty of wildlife nests that you can clear for rewards.

The Apex Legends Season 11 gameplay trailer has revealed the first official in-game look at the brand new map, Legend, and weapon, which all looks amazing.

Apex Legends‘ players have been anticipating Season 11 ever since news broke about there being a new tropical-themed map filled with wildlife. As many will know, Respawn has given players three maps to battle it out on, which is great for keeping the battle royale fresh and fun.

Now, with the brand new Apex Legends Season 11 gameplay trailer, players have finally been given an in-game look at what Storm Point has to offer, as well as the new Legend Ash and the C.A.R SMG.

Here are all the details you need to know about the Apex Legends Season 11 gameplay reveal.

New map: Storm Point

“It may look like paradise, but danger lies within: wild prowlers and venomous spiders roam, and storms gather overhead. Now the Legends are here to make this place their own.”

Located on the planet Gaea, Storm Point is a long-forgotten IMC research base and is now home to the Apex Games. It’s our largest map to date, about 15% bigger than World’s Edge, our previous map-size record holder.

It features a wide variety of diverse locations, from tropical island hopping to giant mountain slides that allow you to play higher than previous maps. There is a lot to see and a lot to talk about, so let’s dive in.

Gravity Cannons

Nearly all the redeploy balloons are gone. In their place are the Gravity Cannons and they’re an excellent method to outrun the ring. Step inside of one and it will launch you in a pre-determined direction.

While traveling through the air, you have pitch control and can land to the sides of the receiving points of the Gravity Cannon to avoid traps and other dangers. You also have complete control of your weapons, grenades, tactical abilities, and ultimates when traveling through the air.

Into the Wilds

On Storm Point, players will be dropping into a world that is teeming with dangerous wildlife. Wildlife Nests are exciting new combat encounters that offer strategic looting options for squads as they plan their paths through to the mid-stages of a match!

Let’s meet the wildlife that calls Storm Point home. Each type of wildlife offers different combat challenges and methods of engagement.

Prowlers

Prowlers are aggressive creatures that hunt in packs and can be found patrolling their Prowler Dens across Storm Point. If they spot you, they’ll be sure to warn you that you’re getting too close and aren’t too friendly to uninvited guests. Keeping your distance leaves the option to engage in your hands. Watch out though, if you choose to engage, more will emerge from the Prowler Dens to defend their territory.

Spiders

Prowlers aren’t the only things living on Storm Point. Spider eggs are scattered across the map. Causing damage to these eggs will disturb the spiders inside, hatching a swarm of critters that will happily have you for lunch.

These large arachnids are ranged, web-spitting enemies that choose to engage with their potential meals from afar before sinking their teeth into them. While squishier than prowlers, these enemies are quick and scurry around to reposition themselves frequently.

Flyers

Look to the sky to reap the rewards carried by Flyers found soaring or preached high above. Flyers are spawned individually across the map and their positions are randomly selected from a predetermined list of possible spawn locations each match.

Rules and trophies of the hunt

Wildlife Nests are denoted by the red markers on your minimap. All nests are static and finite, meaning every match they are always in the same place, with the same type of wildlife and only small variations in their numbers. Wildlife respects their Nests’ boundaries and are aggressive only to trespassers that enter into their domain. Once a Wildlife Nest is cleared, it is removed from the map and your squad can reap the rewards.

Now a bit more on the types of rewards you’ll gain from battling the fauna of Storm Point:

  • Smart Loot Drops: On death, Prowlers and Spiders have a chance to drop attachments and ammo for your squad based on your weapon loadouts, in addition to a few consumables and other goodies.
  • EVO Points: A small percentage of all damage dealt to wildlife is rewarded towards your EVO Armor. This includes Flyers
  • Crafting Materials: Clearing a Nest rewards a lump of crafting materials which are divided evenly among each squad member in the nest at time of completion.

Points of interest

Barometer

Let’s look at some of the larger drop locations: the Barometer, the heart of Storm Point. A spinning platform with a honeypot of loot is overlooked by a research tower that gives a height advantage but is challenging to defend against attackers.

Command Center

Built inside of the mountain, the Command Center is a massive complex that’s rich in loot and which allows players to dive into its heart from the dropship. It is also an excellent method for getting to the top of the mountain while protected by using a network of the longest ziplines in the Apex Games to date.

The Antenna

The Antenna is a drop location divided by a network of catwalks positioned above a massive communications dish. Make your way across these catwalks or slide to the bottom of the Antenna to zipline your way up to the center.

Checkpoint

Suspended over a dense forest, Checkpoint allows you to disengage from an intense fight in new ways. If you are overwhelmed, jump off the platform in the forest below to change the engagement.

Lightning Rod

Lightning Rod is a landing position located at the pinnacle of the mountain and is divided into two halves by a focused and intense bridge. The station’s top is the highest position on the map and is a crucial stronghold if the ring ends there.

Storm Catcher

Suspended over a large area, Storm Catcher is an interior location with a focus on close-quarter combat. Position yourself on its exterior balconies to open up long-range combat against strong, defendable bases on either of its sides.

North Pad

The North Pad is a launch site that contains a network of protected trenches that allow safe passage over a wide range of rolling hills. Separating these trenches are underground bunkers and small watchpoints with loot.

The Mill

Located at the farthest western position, the Mill’s circular interior space contains high-value loot and the entryway towards the center river.

Shipfall

The remnants of the original survivors of Storm Point, Shipfall, is all that remains of the doomed vessel. Eroded over decades, the engine section is still intact and is a stronghold if you can fight your way through it.

Cenote Cave

A secure network of coral reef caves, the Cenote is the most isolated section of the map and is filled with valuable loot and power positions. Located at the southernmost western corner, it is also a critical path between the Barometer and the entire western half of the island.

The Wall

The great divider between the northern beach and the mountain, the Wall is a critical landing spot for those who seek combat—it acts as the chokepoint between two significant sections of the map.

Highpoint

Highpoint is the home to the only redeploy balloon on the map, sits at the top of the longest hill, and is a vital chokepoint to the top of the mountain. In a standoff look around, you may discover hidden tunnels that allow you to flake around it.

Thunder Watch

A gateway to the top of the mountain, its interior is a tightly focused close-quarter combat area with a Gravity Cannon that allows for quick access from the bottom of the mountain and a quick escape, if needed.

Cascade Falls

A dense cluster of buildings placed near the waterfall, Cascade Falls acts as a focal point of the map due to its proximity to the map’s center, making it the most traveled point of interest. Take that into account before deciding the land there on the initial drop.

Launch Site

The Launch Site sits in an alcove at the river’s end and is a large area identified by two distinct landing zones: the outstretched landing pad and the control building. Try landing on one of its three distinctive outstretched pads and loot your way towards the control building.

Fish Farms

A chain of islands separated by open water, the Fish Farms is a large area with a clean separation between the lootable buildings. Cross the open water cautiously, or use the Trident to hover along the waterways.

Gale Stations

A sibling landing location to the Fish Farms, Gale Station acts as a divider between the island’s center and the southern section. What it lacks in loot quantity makes up for loot quality and its power position over the Fish Farms.

Spill-off Camps: Ddesign talk

There are 17 named locations total on the map, but if you pay close attention, you will notice near these drop locations, there are smaller camps. When you’re dropping at the start of a match and see a drop location overwhelmed with other players, look around. You may notice a smaller camp nearby with great loot.

There are many more locations to discover, all with unique and diverse gameplay styles designed for the competitive and casual player. Storm Point is the sum of two years of design work and a close study of how Apex Legends plays in public. There are hundreds of micro-decisions built into the map to address bad third-party encounters, optimal loot flow, and combat engagement for a better gameplay experience.

New Season 11 Legend: Ash

The gameplay trailer gave players a great look at what to expect from Ash, including a look at how her abilities will work in-game.

Ash seems like she fits the aggressive playstyle of a hunter, tracking down one enemy, then finding others through scanning their death box. Further, she can move fast and traverse areas with her Ultimate ability, which allows her to teleport to the desired location.

This means Ash will be great at hunting enemies down and moving fast and effectively, as well as being able to slow enemies with her Arc Snare Tactical Ability.

  • Tactical Ability: Arc Snare
  • Passive Ability: Marked For Death
  • Ultimate Ability: Phase Breach

For more details on her abilities, check out our post on Ash’s Legend Kit.

apex legends ash abilities

Along with a new gameplay trailer showing off the new Legend Ash’s abilities, we also got a biography for the Legend in a brand new blog that details some lore and background information.

Just like every Legend, Ash also has her very own title: “Incisive Instigator.”

“See your imperfections in your enemies — then crush them.”

  • Real Name: Dr. Ashleigh Reid
  • Age: 121
  • Home World: Unknown

C.A.R SMG

The C.A.R SMG was also revealed, and it seems like the weapon will be able to take both Heavy and Light ammo. The exact differences between the two have not been confirmed, but by the trailer, it seems pretty minimal.

The weapon looks like it is going to be fairly easy to control as well, especially from hip-fire, as it is shown to be very accurate mid-air during the trailer.

There you have it, from beachy coves to muddy mountains full of foliage, Storm Point is set to give players a brand new map experience unlike any of the settings we’ve previously seen in Apex Legends.

If you’re excited for Season 11 and want more on Apex Legends, stay tuned on Charlie INTEL as we’ll be covering it all.

Apex Legends Season 11 Storm Point map will feature loads of wildlife

Apex Legends Season 11 will bring a brand new map, Storm Point, which will feature an abundance of wildlife for players to interact with.

The new Apex Legends Season 11 Storm Point map will supposedly contain an abundance of wildlife that players will be able to interact with.

Apex Legends Season 11 isn’t far off for players now, as Respawn has officially revealed the new season through two recent trailers.

The launch trailer for Season 11: Escape even showed off the new Storm Point map, as well as Legend Ash.

The trailer featured a variety of wildlife, from things we’ve seen in the past like Flyers and Prowlers, to new animals we’ve never encountered.

apex legends season 11 map gameplay

This isn’t the first time a map will feature wildlife, as we’ve seen Prowlers on World’s Edge and Flyers on Kings Canyon.

Having said that, some of the leaks reported by Thordan Smash surrounding the wildlife on Storm Point suggest that the new Season 11 map will have way more variety of these animals, as well as perhaps deeper interaction with them.

Prowlers

apex legends prowler

Prowlers aren’t new to Apex Legends, however, Storm Point may feature a more tropical version of the creature.

In the video, Thordan states that Prowlers will have their designated area, and will not be free to roam the map. This will most likely be similar to Trials on World’s Edge, where players fight off Prowlers for rewards.

Spiders

Although it was quite unexpected, the new launch trailer also showed off some new wildlife we haven’t seen before, spiders. For those with arachnophobia, you may not like this, but there will also be a portion of the map in Storm Point where spiders will spawn.

The spiders will not be roaming the map freely and will be restricted to a certain location. There will also be a maximum of twelve spiders allowed in this area so don’t worry about being overrun.

Code has also revealed that players may see spider eggs, which will burst with some of the critters jumping out and chasing players down.

Goliath

apex legends goliath

Storm Point will also host a Goliath, a massive animal that is almost like an alien Ape, twice the width of Gibraltar.

Once again, this Goliath will have its own “pit” which the creature will be restricted to. Players will most likely have to fight this beast to gain rewards, and it may not be that easy considering the animal’s size.

Flyers

flyer cut in half in Apex Legends

Finally, we have the Flyers, which are also not new to Apex Legends. Players have seen Flyers cruising around the skies of Kings Canyon often holding Deathboxes with loot. Players can shoot the Flyers for them to release the Deathboxes.

Perhaps they will be similarly returning to Storm Point, or maybe players will be able to interact with them differently. There will be a maximum of 54 Flyers on the map at one time, which is a hell of a lot!

Rewards

One thing Thordan is certain about is that players will be rewarded for their interactions with the wildlife, especially when it comes to the Goliath. Players will likely be rewarded with high-tier loot when taking on these creatures, so regardless of your fears it will be worth it!

There you have it, the new Apex Legends Season 11 map, Storm Point, just may have more in store for players than we expected.

Of course, these are all leaks so take this information lightly, but we do expect to see all these types of wildlife in some compacity.
