Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.11: Players celebrate AFK kick & server size increase
Arrowhead Game StudiosHelldivers 2 players have been struggling to log into the game for a while now, and have been begging devs for a solution to the problem. Now, Patch 1.000.11 promises to resolve a lot of the server issues players experience.
Helldivers 2 has seen a lot of success since release. One of the main problems that has arisen from this success is that players were struggling to login to the game due to servers being overpopulated.
On February 22, Arrowhead Studios CEO Johan Pilstedt posted on X that the Helldivers 2 servers have been increased to hold a capacity of 700,000 players. Previously, it only had a capacity for 450,000 players.
Pilestedt did mention that they expect this server capacity to be reached, but that the waiting times for players should be much more bearable.
“I have one final update for tonight. We have updated the max CCU cap to 700,000. Unfortunately, we expect the CCU to reach that level. We believe that the wait times will be much more bearable,” Pilestedt said.
The Helldivers 2 devs are planning on increasing the cap even further, but they are planning to do it in increments so as to not cause a meltdown.
Other than increasing server capacity, the devs also addressed the issue of players remaining AFK in-game to hold their spot. With the 1.000.11 update, they are introducing a feature that kicks AFK players after 15 minutes, and they will return back to the title screen.
Players were very excited about this news. Some were just happy to be able to login easily, while others praised Arrowhead Studios for their communication and care for the community.
“I like the open communication and the sincere effort to fix the issue. Some companies don’t even give a sh*t,” one player commented on a Reddit thread titled: “It Happened!!”
