Helldivers 2 players call for major buffs to “badass” but weak weapon

Helldivers 2 doesn’t shy away from giving players extremely powerful weapons and Stratagems to spread Democracy, but there is one weapon fans say betrays the essence of the game. 

Helldivers 2 has been suffering from success, and a lot of that success has been due to the catastrophic nature of the game. Players love being able to call in massive laser beams, shred enemies, and drop bombs on whoever gets in their way. 

There is one snag in this routine, however, that has caused some disappointment in players; the Flamethrower. “Why is it that in this beautiful game that has so many shameless, fantasy-feeding, badass, over the top weaponry.. the flame thrower is kind of a**?” ‘ThatWasAQuiche’ asked on Reddit. 

While fans think the Flamethrower looks very cool, it doesn’t offer very much in terms of gameplay, and many believe it betrays the essence of Helldivers 2. Currently, weaker enemies like Terminid Scavengers are able to comfortably walk through a Flamethrower, and players are not happy with this kind of balancing. 

“In this game more than any other I can think of I lament the fact that the Flamethrower just blows flame instead of spitting a stream of burning liquid. Change that, and I will literally never run a different support weapon,” one player commented. 

Essentially, players want more utility for crowd control and increased range for the Flamethrower. While more damage would be great, this is not the main issue players are finding with it. 

“Double the range, add a stunning/ slowing effect for all enemies caught in the flames depending on their size, and give the weapon the ability to destroy hives,” one player explained. 

While the Helldivers 2 devs haven’t made any indications if they’re going to be making changes to the Flamethrower yet, we will keep you posted on any updates that come in the future.
