Helldivers 2 players love game’s “generous” Season Pass
Sony Interactive EntertainmentHelldivers 2 is having a great run, and players are thanking the devs for not implementing a predatory monetization system.
Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest games of 2024 this far, as more and more players are signing in to defend Super Earth and spread democracy across the universe. Arrowhead Game Studios revamped their franchise with the highly-anticipated sequel that offers a unique co-op experience for players on PC and PS5.
Even weeks after its launch, the game keeps adding players to its ranks, and many are still enjoying replaying the same content alongside friends and strangers. One of the keys to Helldivers 2 success seems to be the lack of predatory microtransactions that became the norm for most live-service games.
Reddit user ‘masspwnaged’ posted “Farmed the premium currency by playing and bought the premium pass at no cost to me… 10/10,” and explained: “I’m so sick of game devs treating their players like wallets rather than people. This game really encourages you to play, and treats you well for playing. definitely buying the next pass with cash to show appreciation.”
Other Helldivers 2 players quickly joined the conversation to agree with OP. “The fact that the most amount you can spend on Super Credits is 20 euro, shows,” explained one player, and another added, “Helldivers are not locked behind paywall thats the best thing.”
Many players have already unlocked all available content without spending any money. However, they’re planning on showing devs some appreciation when more content arrives in the future.
One player commented, “Have enough to get two passes but gonna throw money at them once a new pass comes out cuz they deserve it,” and another added, “I’m gonna get the super citizen edition bc the devs deserve it. I’d buy 3 super citizen equivalents to keep content flowin”
Many Helldivers 2 players compared the title with other live-service games like Destiny 2 and Diablo 4, claiming these franchises could learn from Arrowhead Game Studios. Reddit user ‘SantyStuff’ highlighted players “can outright buy the amount of super credits needed for the Warbond” while in other titles “the Battle Pass would cost 1000 super credits but your only option would be 900 for 10$ or 2400 for 25$”
Lastly, another player commented: “Most important thing, you have no need to rush as they won’t disappear anyway.” Many agreed with them, explaining “nowadays it’s FOMO everywhere.”
Despite occasional server issues it seems like Helldivers 2 has a bright future ahead thanks to it’s grateful player base. If you’re looking for more Helldivers 2 content, you can check how to get free Super Credits in Helldivers 2 and all Stratagem codes to be ready for your next mission.
