Helldivers 2 is barely a month old and players are already calling for various new features to be implemented. The game’s creative director recently responded to requests for more armor customization options.

After a rocky launch that saw many server-side struggles, Helldivers 2 looks to be in more of an assured spot at the moment. The co-op-focused, third-person shooter from Arrowhead Studios continues to expand its already healthy player base, with thousands joining in every day.

A steady stream of patches and multiple increases to the game’s server capacity looks to have prevented Helldivers 2 from losing momentum. The community has also been appreciative of open and transparent communication from the devs, who’ve kept players in the loop every step of the way.

Aside from notifying players of upcoming fixes and capacity upgrades, the title’s creative director, Johan Pilestedt, has also commented on requests for new features. This included calls for an AFK timer, which was eventually added to the game.

More recently, Pilestedt responded to requests for the addition of a feature many players would love to see. The feature in question is color customization for all the armor pieces in Helldivers 2.

It was brought to his attention by X user ‘PhilAlsoBill,’ who stated, “Any chance on seeing color customization for helmets/armors/capes in the future? Just so armors and stuff match.” In response, the dev said that the feature was “being discussed internally,” which managed to excite players in the comments section.

One user came up with a special use case for the feature, “So what you’re saying, is there MIGHT be a POSSIBILITY to be able to make uniforms for regiments in the future?” Another player even stated that they would be willing to pay for the option, “I’d pay a couple bucks to be able to color my own armors whatever colors I want.”

Over on Reddit, one user explained why they’d be fine without the option, “I’m honestly fine with the way things are right now. I got an amazing game for my money and I want them to keep developing it, so I don’t mind buying some armor now and then.”

Helldivers 2 has clearly managed to build a solid rapport with its player base, who seem pretty eager to support the game. The introduction of highly requested features such as armor color customization will only help strengthen the understanding even further.
