From World at War to Black Ops 4, these are the top 5 Wonder Weapons in Treyarch’s Call of Duty Zombies
When Treyarch first brought to life the Zombies game mode in 2008 with Call of Duty World at War, they didn’t skimp on style. While almost all the guns at your disposal on Nacht der Untoten were based on real life weapons, the developers sneaked in a tasty treat known as the Ray Gun. A gun pulled straight out of the sci-fi pulp magazines of yesteryear, this became Call of Duty’s first Wonder Weapon.
With over 50 Wonder Weapons featured throughout five Treyarch titles, it may be hard to keep track of them all. To help you remember which ones still reign supreme, here are my top five (in no order) Wonder Weapons I have ever had the pleasure to lay hands on.
Note: This list is comprised of only Treyarch Wonder Weapons. While the folks at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer definitely cooked up some great guns in Infinite Warfare and WWII, those guns were not considered for this article.
More canon than gun, the Thunder Gun was many players first Wonder Weapon. For those whose Zombies career began on Kino der Toten, this gun holds a special place in their hearts.
With infinite damage at close range, the Thunder Gun could take out a whole train of zombies in one blast. When upgraded to the Zeus Cannon, this gun gains increased reload speeds and an extra two blasts per clip.
While this baby may be too much to handle for some more novice players, the Thunder Gun was a must have weapon for anyone attempting high rounds on Kino and Ascension.
Arguably the most recognizable Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty history, the Monkey Bomb is an outright necessity in most Zombies map. A tactical grenade that distracts all zombies around it, allowing you to reload, run away, or just rest your hands for a couple seconds.
While it does take a few seconds to wind up before throwing, it has the potential to create moments that players will never forget.
Getting cornered by a hoard of zombies with no ammo, realizing you’re seconds away from going down, then releasing a monkey from your hands to save the day. That’s what Zombies is about.
The quintessential experiment of a crazy German scientist, the WunderWaffe DG-2 shoots straight electricity.
While the Thundergun sends Zombies flying out of the map, the WunderWaffe would electrify whole swarms of them right in front of you, adding a certain kind of flavor that the Zombies mode continues to embrace.
Even though it was first introduced on Shi No Numa, it perfectly mimics the look and feel of Der Riese with the electric bulbs and spikes matching the teleporter’s design.
The map Ascension didn’t really care to be all that conventional. The first map to not include one of the main four perks, Double Tap, and instead replace it with two new ones also had the bravery to replace Monkey Bombs with a new contraption.
The Gersh Device, like the WunderWaffe DG-2, is another example of a Wonder Weapon that embraces the map, and story, surrounding it. Created by the eponymous Dr. Gersh, players use this device to free him as part of the maps easter egg quest.
Though it takes a tad longer to throw than a Monkey Bomb, the visually stunning portal it creates is worth the wait. Sucking up all zombies around it, this feels like the Monkey Bombs on steroid. While it’s unfortunate we don’t see it on more maps, I think the rarity makes it that much better.
There has not been a Wonder Weapon that has provided as much laughs, rage, and overall fun more than the Sliquifier. Exclusively found in Black Ops II’s Die Rise map, this gun shoots purple liquid that causes players and zombies to slip and slide around the floor.
In higher rounds, when camping with three friends on the roof with this gun, chaos is sure to ensue. Whether you’re causing your friends to slip straight into zombie hoards, or you’re the one slipping on your friends liquid, the whole lobby is in for a wild time.
Outside the hilarity, in a skilled players hands, the Sliquifier can chain kill ridiculous amounts of zombies with one blast. Bundle that in with the fact that it’s extremely easy to build, this Wonder Weapon deserves its place on the top five.
Does your top five match mine? Let us know in the comments below how you would rank your top five Wonder Weapons in Treyarch Zombies!
Warzone team gets world’s fastest win on Rebirth Island in hilarious fashion
Rebirth Island allows for teams to secure very fast Warzone wins, but one team recently took it to the next level by winning in record time.
Getting a win in Warzone is always an exciting time, but one team took it to the next level by securing a victory in record time that will be incredibly hard to beat by the rest of the Call of Duty community.
Rebirth Island has become a very popular part of Call of Duty: Warzone, as players love the fast-paced action that the smaller battle royale map offers.
While Rebirth Island is fast-paced, it does have a much smaller lobby than its Verdansk counterpart.
This smaller lobby count recently opened the door for one team of Warzone players to secure the world’s fastest victory in Warzone.
Call of Duty community member Its Novik posted a video on his YouTube channel on September 24, 2021, that showed him and his teammates getting ready to play a match on Rebirth Island.
However, when Its Novik and his teammates got loaded into Rebirth Island, they quickly noticed that there were only 9 players in total in the lobby. This number did not eventually increase like usual, as the other five players began to leave the match to find one more populated.
Its Novik and his teammates did not leave, as they wanted to see what would happen and how fast they could win the match when there was only one other player in the lobby.
This player went on to time out and left the match before the pre-game countdown timer ended. This caused Its Novik and his team to start the game and fly in on the helicopter. However, as soon as the match officially started, the team was rewarded with the win without even jumping out of the helicopter.
Rebirth Island has had speedy matches before, but nothing has come close to Its Novik and his team securing a win in less than a single second in what is undoubtedly one of the most unique Warzone wins of all time.

CoD: Vanguard devs reveal changes for launch: Sun glare nerf, Spawn tuning & more
Sledgehammer Games have revealed some changes that will be coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard when the game launches.
Following the end of the Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta, Sledgehammer Games has given the community a look at various issues they have already addressed or will be ready by the time it launches on November 5, 2021.
The CoD: Vanguard Beta has now officially ended after players have had a few days to experience the current form of the newest entry in the fan-favorite franchise and provide feedback to the developers on things they would like changed or improved.
While there were plenty of positives to be had from the Vanguard Beta, there were some significant issues that many players shone a spotlight on and asked the developers to address.
While these issues were present in the CoD: Vanguard Beta, Sledgehammer Games has already provided an update to the community stating a variety of topics that they have already fixed or will be fixed at launch.
You can find Sledgehammer’s full announcement below:
“We hope you enjoyed your time in Vanguard and the innovations we’ve brought to Multiplayer. Throughout the Beta, we were able to collect a great deal of community feedback. All of the official reports, gameplay clips, and messages have assisted our developers in squashing bugs, improving features, and refining the maps and modes for launch.

Here’s a shortlist of things that have either already been fixed for launch or issues we’re currently working on, thanks to your feedback:
- Nerfing the sun
- Cracking down on Red Star raves
- Removing dognados
- Tuning spawns to avoid Hotel Royal’s murder kitchen
- Closing open mic lobbies in Search & Destroy
In all seriousness, we are fixing those things. We’re also taking a thorough pass at weapon balancing, audio mixing, and visibility. But we’ll share more on that later.

As a reminder, Beta was just a sample of the overall Call of Duty: Vanguard experience. You can expect more maps, modes, and weapons in Vanguard on November 5. Vanguard will also include an exciting Campaign set against four major theaters of war and a franchise-first, universe-expanding, Zombies crossover – crafted by our wonderful friends at Treyarch.
With that, we want to give one last thank you to all of our players! We can’t wait to share more Vanguard with you all. More to come!”
There is no doubt that plenty of players will be happy to see that Sledgehammer Games has listened to their feedback and will be implementing it in changes or have already implemented the feedback in the version of the game that will be launching on November 5.
