Hogwarts Legacy contains many charm and curse spells that help in defeating enemies, exploring the open world, and building the Room of Requirement. To help you make the right spell set, here’s a list of all Hogwarts Legacy spells and their effect.
There is a plethora of fun content in Hogwarts Legacy that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users can look forward to ahead of the game’s launch on previous-gen consoles on May 5. This includes broomsticks that can be used to fly around the vast open world and get you to the different classes you’ll be attending.

After you’ve picked your house and wand, you can start progressing through classes and unlocking spells that are useful for a variety of different situations, including combat and interacting with the environment.
Here’s every spell available to players in Hogwarts Legacy:

Alohomora | Unlocks locked doors |
Crucio | Locks target in place while dealing continuous damage |
Bombarda | Send out an explosion that deals heavy damage |
Petrificus Totalus | Petrifies the target’s body |
Rictusempra | Tickles targets and causes them to laugh uncontrollably |
Riddikulus | Forces boggarts to assume another form |
Stupefy | Stuns targets |
Expelliarmus | Disarms enemies and does damage |
Lumos | Illuminates the tip of your wand so you can see in the dark |
Levioso | Levitates enemies and objects |
Incendio | Conjures fire |
Avada Kedavra | Kills targets |
Protego | Protects you from damage |
Wingardium Leviosa | Levitates animals and objects |
Arresto Momentum | Slows both objects and enemies |
Accio | Summons objects |
Glacius | Freezes enemies and increases the damage they take |
Flipendo | Knocks targets backward |
Oppugno | Sends objects flying at a target |
Disillusionment | Turns the player mostly invisible |
Descendo | Slams targets down |
Depulso | Repels objects and enemies with force |
Diffindo | Slices through targets |
Confrigo | Causes an explosion on the target |
Imperio | Makes targets fight for you |
Revelio | Reveals concealed objects and messages |
Reparo | Rebuilds damaged objects and structures |
Transformation | Turns objects or enemies into alternate forms |
Ancient Magic Throw | Throw objects at enemies mid-combat |
Ancient Magic Finisher | Use your Ancient Magic Meter to finish an enemy off |
Beast Petting Brush | Used to pet beasts |
Beast Feed | Used to feed beasts |
Nab-Sack | Used to capture beasts |
Hardcore Harry Potter fans will recognize that the three unforgivable curses are part of this list: Avada Kedavra, Imperio, and Crucio.
There are also other spells that will come in handy during your time at Hogwarts, such as Wingardium Leviosa and Accio which will greatly assist you in reaching objects that would otherwise seem unobtainable.
