Hogwarts Legacy players may be wondering where they can find Unicorns in the game, whether they’re trying to complete the Unique Unicorn Quest or just trying to find the magnificent beast.
Hogwarts Legacy‘s open world is full of exciting surprises and tasks to complete, from Merlin Trials to capturing and taming Beasts.
There are many different Beasts to capture for your Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy, but some are more illustrious than others. One of the most elusive and sought-after Beasts in the Harry Potter universe is the Unicorn.
For those looking to find a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy, perhaps to complete a Quest or just try their luck at a shiny, here’s their location and how to capture them.

Hogwarts Legacy Unicorn location & shiny
Unicorns in Hogwarts Legacy can be found in the Forbidden Forest, more specifically, the Unicorn Den south of the East North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame. Players can use the game map to locate the Unicorn Den in the Forbidden Forest, which is indicated by a paw icon.
If you’re struggling to find the correct den, as there are many paw icons in the Forbidden Forest, simply find the East North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame and go south until you find the Unicorn Den, which is just on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
Only one Unicorn spawns at a time in the Unicorn Den, so finding a Shiny Unicorn is pretty rare. Shiny’s in Hogwarts Legacy are Beasts with a different color than what’s usually found, and the shiny Unicorn is golden.
How to capture & breed a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy
To capture a Unicorn in Hogwarts Legacy, players must make sure they have the Nab-Sack unlocked by progressing Deek’s Quests.
If you have the Nab-Sack, capturing a Unicorn is the same as capturing any other Beast, but you may need more time to get them in the Nab-Sack. Follow these steps if you’re struggling:
- Use the Disillusionment spell to get as close as you can to the Unicorn.
- Use Arresto Momentum on the Beast.
- Quickly get the Nab-Sack out and start the capture process.
- Stay as close as you can to the Unicorn until it is captured.
To breed Unicorns, you must capture a male and a female. This is slightly more difficult than other Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy, as you can only find one at its den at a time. Once you have both a male and female Unicorn, place them in your Room of Requirement‘s Vivarium.
Once in your Vivarium, begin the breeding process by placing a Breeding Pen down and selecting the Unicorn. Allow time to pass and you should have a baby Unicorn in your vivarium!
How to complete the Unique Unicorn Quest in Hogwarts Legacy
Betty Bugbrooke will give you the Unique Unicorn Quest in Hogsmeade Square. The Quest requires players to find “Hazel” the Unicorn.
To complete the Quest, first make sure it is Winter, then simply go to the Unicorn Den in the Forbidden Forest. Locate the Unicorn, then, using the Disillusionment spell, creep up on Hazel and use Arresto Momentum on the Beast. This will give you time to get your Nab-Sack out to capture her.
After capturing Hazel, head back to Betty in Hogsmeade and speak to her to finish the Quest.
