March 7th abilities in Honkai Star Rail explained
March 7th is a four-star Honkai Star Rail Ice element character in the Path of The Preservation. These characters are in charge of shielding allies with their abilities and tanking damage from enemies.
March 7th can be obtained for free during a Trailblaze Mission titled Eye of the Storm. She’s regularly featured in limited-time banners, but you can pull her anytime from permanent ones as well.
Here are all of March 7th’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:
- Frigid Cold Arrow (Basic attack) – Deals Ice DMG to a single enemy.
- The Power of Cuteness (Skill) – Provides one ally with a Shield that can absorb DMG equal to 38%–60.8% of her DEF plus 190–845.5 for three turns. Additionally, if the ally’s current HP percentage is 30% or higher, it greatly increases the chance of enemies attacking that ally.
- Glacial Cascade (Ultimate) – Deals Ice DMG to all enemies. What’s more, hit enemies have a 50% base chance to be Frozen for one turn. Frozen enemies can’t take action and receive additional Ice DMG at the beginning of the turn.
- Girl Power (Talent) – After a Shielded ally is attacked by an enemy, March 7th immediately counters with Ice DMG. This effect can be triggered two times each turn.
- Freezing Beauty (Technique) – Immediately attacks the enemy. After entering battle, there is a 100% base chance to Freeze a random enemy for one turn.
Since March 7th is one of the first characters you get, she’s pretty straightforward to use. Her main abilities involve shielding allies and freezing enemies, so you’ll want to focus on improving her DEF and Effect Hit Rate. Additionally, you can also try enhancing March’s HP and SPD. The first one will allow her to stay in battle longer despite her average stats, while the second one will allow her to participate more.
Lastly, improving her Energy Regen can help March 7th use her Ultimate more often. This can help freeze enemies with the right build.
Best Relics for March 7th in Honkai Star Rail
Knight of Purity Palace
- Two-piece bonus: Increases DEF by 12%.
- Four-piece bonus: Increases the Max DMG that can be absorbed by the shield created by the wearer by 20%.
Knight of Purity Palace is the best Relic set for shielders in Honkai Star Rail. Since March 7th’s skill provides a Shield based on her own DEF stat, increasing it will be beneficial for all allies. What’s more, the full Relic set further improves the strength of said Shield, so you should definitely go for it.
Hunter of Glacial Forest
- Two-piece bonus: Increases Ice DMG by 10%.
- Four-piece bonus: After the wearer unleashes their Ultimate, their CRIT DMG increases by 25% for two turns.
If your main focus is dealing damage to enemies, this is the best Relic Set for Ice characters. However, since March 7th’s specialty isn’t dealing damage, we don’t recommend picking this Relic set.
A combination of a two-piece set of Knight of Purity Palace with a two-piece set of Hunter of Glacial Forest can prove interesting, on the other hand. Sadly, no other Relic set works for March 7th at the moment.
Best Planar Ornament for March 7th in Honkai Star Rail
Belobog of the Architects is a great Planar Ornament for March 7th in Honkai Star Rail. It starts by increasing March 7th’s DEF by 15%. Then, when her Effect Hit Rate is 50% or higher, she gains an extra 15% DEF. Again, March 7th’s DEF is one of her more important stats, so anything you can do to increase it will show great results in battle.
Alternatively, Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise is great if you’re looking to enhance March 7th’s Effect Hit Rate. This Planar Ornament increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 10% for starters. At the same time, the wearer’s ATK increases up to a maximum of 25%. While it might not be your first option, it’s an interesting choice that will make March even more powerful.
Best Light Cone for March 7th in Honkai Star Rail
Moment of Victory
Gepard‘s signature Light Cone is the top-tier choice for Honkai Star Rail characters in the Path of The Preservation. This Light Cone increases the wearer’s DEF and Effect Hit Rate by up to 40%, so it’s tailor-made for March 7th. Additionally, it increases the chance for the wearer to be attacked by enemies. However, when the wearer is attacked, it increases their DEF again by up to an additional 40%.
This Is Me!
March’s own Light Cone is another good choice for her. This Light Cone increases the wearer’s DEF by up to 32%. Moreover, it increases their Ultimate’s DMG by up to 120% of the wearer’s DEF. It’s important to note that this second effect only applies one time per enemy target. However, that’s more than enough to let March 7th freeze some enemies.
Defense
While it’s no one’s first choice, this three-star Light Cone can work very well with March 7th. With this Light Cone, when she unleashes her Ultimate, she restores HP by up to 30% of their Max HP. While it doesn’t improve her abilities in battle, it allows her to cure herself in the middle of battle. Since her base HP isn’t very good, you should take any help you can get.
Best Honkai Star Rail teams for March 7th
Having a shielder like March 7th on your Honkai Star Rail team means you don’t necessarily need a healer. However, you’ll need a powerful DPS in charge of dealing damage and a support character that can either boost allies or weaken enemies.
With all that in mind, we recommend pairing March 7th with Clara if you have the chance. Clara can be your main DPS, and March’s shields will direct all enemy attention to her. This means Clara will be able to use her counterattack ability very often. You can add another DPS like Seele or Topaz to add some single-target damage.
Arlan is another interesting but risky choice that can pay off. Arlan is one of the few characters that inflict damage on themselves to attack, so having a Shielder in the team is a must. In this case, however, you should probably get a healer like Natasha or Lynx, in case you need to get out of a hairy situation.
If you’re looking for a support character that weakens enemies, you should try Pela, Kafka, Black Swan, or Silver Wolf. However, if you’re looking to boost your own team’s abilities, Tingyun or Bronya are the best choices.

Imaginary March 7th leaked details in Honkai Star Rail
HoYoverse confirmed March 7th will get a new version in Honkai Star Rail very soon, where she’ll get new abilities and more. The official reveal confirmed she’ll be an Imaginary character in the Path of The Hunt, but she’ll remain a four-star unit.
While official details about her kit are still under wraps, leaks revealed she’ll have an Enhanced Basic ATK and a Talent that deals DMG to enemies. What’s more, while she’s a Hunt character, most of her abilities will buff allies instead of dealing DMG directly.
Leakers talk about milk tea in her new animations, which seems to confirm leaks are somewhat accurate, as March 7th’s voice actress already mentioned that detail before.
Players will be able to try the new version of the character thanks to a trial in the main story. Leaks suggest she’ll arrive in HSR with update 2.4, so we’ll make sure to update this guide once HoYoverse officially announces March 7th’s new release date.
That’s everything you need to know about March 7th in HSR. For more Honkai Star Rail content, you can check out our HSR character tier list, everything you need to know about update 2.3, or how to unlock the Fire & Imaginary Trailblazer.
