Here’s how to build Topaz in Honkai Star Rail with the best Light Cone, Relics, and teammates.

Honkai Star Rail players are always in search of the best characters for their teams, and Topaz can be a great asset in battle.

If you’re one of the lucky ones who got Topaz through the gacha system, here’s how to build her with the best possible Light Cone, Relic sets, and teammates.

Topaz’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail explained

Topaz is a five-star Honkai Star Rail Fire element character in the Path of The Hunt. Characters in this Path specialize in dealing massive damage with single-target attacks. Topaz will be boosted during the first phase of update 2.2, alongside Robin’s banner.

Here are all of Topaz’s abilities in Honkai Star Rail:

  • Deficit… (Basic ATK) – Deals Fire DMG to a single enemy target.
  • Difficulty Paying? (Skill) – Causes a single enemy to enter the ‘Proof of Debt’ state. What’s more, it also increases the target’s DMG received from follow-up attacks. At the start of an ally’s turn or during their action, if there are no enemies with ‘Proof of Debt’ on the field, Topaz will cause a random enemy to enter that state. Then, Numby deals Fire DMG to this target. Using this Skill to deal DMG is considered as launching a follow-up attack.
  • Turn a Profit! (Ultimate) – Numby enters the ‘Windfall Bonanza!’ state and its DMG multiplier increases alongside its CRIT DMG by different amounts. Also, when enemies with ‘Proof of Debt’ receive attacks from an ally, Numby’s action is Advanced Forward by 50%. After Numby uses two attacks, it exits the ‘Windfall Bonanza!’ state.
  • Trotter Market?! (Talent) – Summons Numby at the start of the battle. When taking action, Numby launches follow-up attacks on the single enemy target afflicted with ‘Proof of Debt.’ When enemies afflicted with ‘Proof of Debt’ receive an ally’s follow-up attacks, Numby’s action is Advanced Forward. The action Advance Forward effect cannot be triggered during Numby’s own turn.
  • Explicit Subsidy (Technique) – Summons Numby when Topaz enters the overworld. Numby will automatically search for Basic Treasures and Trotters in a set radius. Using her Technique causes Topaz to regenerate 60 Energy after Numby’s first attack in the next battle. After using her Technique, if Topaz is still in the team when enemies in the overworld are defeated, additionally receives a small amount of credits when obtaining credits with 10,000 being the maximum she can get per day. After using her Technique and defeating enemies in Simulated Universe, additionally receive a small amount of Cosmic Fragments with a small chance to obtain one random Curio.

From Topaz’s abilities, we can see that is actually Numby the one who does all the work. What’s more, the adorable Trotter has some very useful abilities both in and out of the battlefield, giving players the chance to find all the treasure chests they might have missed.

Since Topaz – or rather, Numby – specializes in dealing great amounts of damage, you should focus on improving their ATK, SPD, CRIT Rate, and CRIT DMG. Alternatively, if you’re lacking a Fire element character in your team, improving Topaz’s Fire DMG can also be a fruitful strategy.

Best Relics for Topaz in Honkai Star Rail

Firesmith of Lava-Forging

  • Two-piece bonus: Increases Fire DMG by 10%.
  • Four-piece bonus: Increases the wearer’s Skill DMG by 12%. What’s more, after unleashing their Ultimate, increases the wearer’s Fire DMG by 12% for the next attack.

This Honkai Star Rail Relic set works great with Fire element characters, especially if they focus on dealing damage to enemies. However, since improving Topaz’s Fire DMG isn’t the top priority, we recommend combining the two-piece set of Firesmith of Lava-Forging with another set that enhances other stats.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat

  • Two-piece bonus: ATK increases by 12%.
  • Four-piece bonus: The wearer’s SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat is the easiest Relic set you can get. Of course, it works great with Topaz since it increases her ATK with both the two-piece and the four-piece set.

While a two-piece set of Messenger Traversing Hackerspace could also work with Topaz since it increases her SPD, we recommend sticking to the other two sets to enhance her DMG output.

Best Planar Ornament for Topaz in Honkai Star Rail

Inert Salsotto is the best Planar Ornament you can equip Topaz with in Honkai Star Rail. It increases her CRIT Rate by 8%, and when her CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, her Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG increases by 15%. Since Topaz’s kit relies on follow-up attacks, you won’t find a better alternative.

Of course, if you want to try a different approach, you could go for Celestial Differentiator. This Planar Ornament increases Topaz’s CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate, so it could be very useful in battle.

On the other hand, Space Sealing Station is another viable alternative when you’re focused on DMG output. It increases the wearer’s ATK by up to 24%, giving Numby plenty of chances to finish enemies with a bang.

Best Light Cone for Topaz in Honkai Star Rail

Worrisome, Blissful

All Honkai Star Rail five-star characters debut alongside their very own Light Cone, and Topaz is no exception. Worrisome, Blissful increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by up to 30% and their follow-up attacks’ DMG by up to 50%. Additionally, after they use a follow-up attack, it applies the ‘Tame’ state to the target, stacking up to two stacks.

What’s more, when allies hit enemy targets under the ‘Tame’ state, every ‘Tame’ stack increases the CRIT DMG dealt by up to 20%.

Swordplay

Sushang‘s Light Cone is a great alternative for Topaz if you want to take advantage of Numby’s follow-up attacks. Swordplay increases the DMG dealt by up to 16% for each time the wearer hits the same target. This effect can stack up to five times and will be dispelled when the wearer changes targets.

River Flows in Spring

This Light Cone increases the wearer’s SPD by up to 12% and DMG by up to 24%. Topaz and Numby’s SPD is crucial in battle because it determines how frequently the Trotter can attack enemies. This Light Cone works very well with Topaz, but keep in mind that its effect will disappear if she takes DMG. Luckily, it can resume after the end of her next turn.

Best Honkai Star Rail teams for Topaz

If you’re choosing the free-to-play route, you have to pair Topaz and Numby with Asta in Honkai Star Rail. She’ll provide SPD boosts that can make Numby a very strong and frequent attacker. With Natasha or Lynx as your healer, you can then add a shielder like March 7th or the Fire Trailblazer.

Since Topaz focuses on follow-up attacks, Clara can be an interesting teammate for her. In that situation, you’ll also need a support character like Tingyun or Bronya and a healer like Luocha or HuoHuo.

Depending on the Relics and Light Cone you choose, you’ll want Topaz to be your main DPS or sub-DPS. Either way, you should complete your formation with a support character and a healer for best results. You can add another damage dealer with a follow-up attack to create an interesting synergy with Topaz’s kit.
