What is Apocalyptic Shadow in Honkai Star Rail?
Apocalyptic Shadow will be a new permanent game mode in Honkai Star Rail where players will face “materializations of the Finality and defeat bosses they have faced before.” According to the official description, these Formidable Foes will be slightly different from the ones players faced, as they will feature different traits to be aware of.
This new game mode will join Pure Fiction and Memory of Chaos as permanent modes, which will start a new scheduling system. The official post reads: “Two weeks after Apocalyptic Shadow is updated, a new Pure Fiction phase will commence. Then, after another two weeks of Pure Fiction, a new Memory of Chaos phase will begin. Each regular game mode period will continue to last for six weeks.
The idea is to add a different kind of permanent game mode to give players “differing strategic experiences.” Currently, Memory of Chaos highlights characters that deal Blast and single-target damage, while Pure Fiction is focused on AoE (Area of Effect) and Blast, leaving characters of The Hunt behind.
When is Apocalyptic Shadow coming to Honkai Star Rail?
Apocalyptic Shadow will arrive in Honkai Star Rail with the 2.3 update that will drop in June 2024.
HoYoverse haven’t yet confirmed the exact release date for the version update, so stay tuned for more information about Apocalyptic Shadow’s release.
Apocalyptic Shadow QoL updates in Honkai Star Rail
Apocalyptic Shadow will arrive in Honkai Star Rail alongside new QoL changes that look to optimize the team setup and character selection. These changes will also apply in Pure Fiction and Memory of Chaos, giving players the chance to set up their teams in advance so they can jump right into these game modes directly.
On the other hand, a new function will also allow HSR players to drag and drop characters between Nodes to adjust teams accordingly.
Additionally, players will be able to check their friends’ setups for Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction, in case they get stuck or need some advice. HoYoverse revealed they’ll also include information about Light Cones and Relics in future updates.
