Call of Duty: Warzone has seen several metas come and go over 2021, with Cold War weapons such as the DMR, FFAR 1, and Krig 6 dominating certain seasons. Here’s how Warzone’s meta changed over the course of 2021.
Choosing the best weapon possible is extremely important to winning Call of Duty: Warzone, but what weapon is best never remains consistent. Warzone developers Raven Software have spent 2021 buffing and nerfing tons of weapons, which has shifted the meta every time.
Thanks to website WZ Ranked, we can what weapons entered and left the meta across 2021’s Black Ops Cold War Seasons.
Here’s a breakdown of the weapon meta from Black Ops Cold War’s first season to Warzone Pacific, based on their popularity.
- Warzone x Cold War Season 1 meta
- Warzone x Cold War Season 2 meta
- Warzone x Cold War Season 3 meta
- Warzone x Cold War Season 4 meta
- Warzone x Cold War Season 5 meta
- Warzone x Cold War Season 6 meta
- Warzone Pacific Season 1 meta
Warzone x Cold War Season 1 meta
Black Ops Cold War Season 1 brought all of Cold War’s weapons over to Warzone, where the DMR 14 almost immediately took over. The DMR had almost a 30% pick rate in the first quarter of Season 1 before it was nerfed to the ground on January 13.
During this time, the MAC-10 was the most popular SMG, consistently staying between a 15-20% pick rate. The MAC-10 then became the most popular weapon in Season 1, with Modern Warfare’s Kar98k regaining popularity after the DMR nerf.
Warzone x Cold War Season 2 meta
Cold War Season 2 saw the MAC-10 nerfed and the dreaded FFAR 1 meta arrive in Warzone. With an incredibly fast time-to-kill and minimal recoil, the FFAR had over a 20% pick rate and remained incredibly popular until the end of Season 2.
During this time, the Kar98k remained consistently popular (and does every single season), while the M16 saw a huge jump during the burst meta.
Warzone x Cold War Season 3 meta
Cold War Season 3 saw the original Warzone map nuked and Verdansk ’84 take over. This huge update nerfed several extremely popular weapons including the M16, making it one of the more balanced seasons of 2021.
The CR-56 AMAX saw a huge rise in popularity during this time, briefly hitting the same pick rate as the ever-popular Kar98k.
Warzone x Cold War Season 4 meta
Raven Software nerfed the CR-56 AMAX towards the end of Season 3, which was met with significant backlash. However, to make up for it, the FARA 83 received a huge buff which made it the most popular weapon by a longshot.
Warzone x Cold War Season 5 meta
The Krig 6 received a strong nerf during Season 5, which brought Modern Warfare’s Kar98k back to the top spot.
Warzone x Cold War Season 6 meta
Warzone Season 6, the final season before Warzone Pacific, had the most balanced meta of any Cold War season.
After a full year of buffs, nerfs, and changes, it appeared that Raven Software had finally found the balance they were hoping to strike. The Swiss K31 dethroned the Kar98k to be the most popular weapon, and the OTs 9 and Cold War AK-47 became the most popular non-sniper weapons.
But, no weapon surpassed a 15% pick rate, so almost any weapon was viable during this time.
Warzone Pacific Season 1 meta
The early days of this season saw all of Modern Warfare and Cold War’s weapons drop in popularity as Vanguard’s guns began to rise. Now, it’s the MP-40 and STG44 dominating the meta, while the Modern Warfare Kar98k kept its place as the most popular Sniper Rifle.
With the Warzone Pacific Season 1 Reloaded update coming soon, we expect this meta to shift again.
2021 saw many different weapons enter and leave the meta, while some fan-favorite picks remained there all the way through. Warzone Pacific’s seasons’ metas are likely to be equally as diverse, and we’re looking forward to seeing what guns come out on top.

Best Automaton loadout for Warzone Pacific Caldera
Here are the attachments and perks you need to equip to make the best Automaton loadout for Warzone Pacific Caldera.
The Automaton is one of the most popular Assault Rifle choices in Vanguard Multiplayer. Luckily, its stellar qualities can also shine in Warzone Pacific if you craft the best Automaton loadout possible.
While the Automaton was regarded as the best AR when the integration first landed, a nerf to its recoil saw it bomb out of the meta. Having said that, the recent January 12 update gave the weapon a buff, and players are starting to realize how strong the weapon is once again.
Here’s the best Automaton loadout you can use for Warzone Pacific success.

Best Automaton attachments for Warzone Pacific
- Muzzle: MX Silencer
- Barrel: Empress 620mm Precision
- Optic: G16 2.5x
- Stock: ZAC Skeletal
- Underbarrel: m1941 Hand Stop
- Magazine: 6.5mm Sakura 75 Round Drum
- Ammunition: Lengthened
- Rear Grip: Polymer Grip
- Perk: Tight Grip
- Perk 2: Fully Loaded
Although the Automaton doesn’t boast the fastest TTK amongst Assault Rifles, it is certainly one of the easiest to control. The Empress 620mm Precision, ZAC Skeletal stock, m1941 Hand Stop, Tight Grip Perk, and Polymer Grip all work toward improving accuracy by steadying the weapon.
As with most Warzone loadouts, increased magazine size is highly-recommended. The 6.5mm Sakura 75 Round Drum will allow you to knock and wipe several players. Fully Loaded will put you in the best position to win by starting you with maximum ammo. Lengthened will increase bullet velocity, making the Automaton a lethal choice.
Lastly, although Optics are generally down to preference, we love the G16 2.5x, as it provides the weapon with a clean reticle and zoom.
Best Automaton Perks and equipment
- Perk 1: E.O.D.
- Perk 2: Ghost
- Perk 3: Amped
- Secondary: Top Break
- Lethal: Semtex
- Tactical: Stun
Although big changes have made their way to Warzone, some things have maintained the status quo. E.O.D, Ghost, and Amped should remain an extremely popular trio of Perks.
Along the same lines, the Semtex Lethal equipment, and Stun Tactical equipment will continue to be useful options. Of course, many of these choices will not be available in the Vanguard Royale mode.

The Top Break has made waves as a powerful Secondary weapon option. Seeing as the Automaton specializes in long-range gunfights, the Top Break handgun will have your back in close quarters.
How to unlock the Automaton in Vanguard and Warzone Pacific
In order to unlock the Automaton in Warzone, players must reach Rank 8, making it very easy to obtain.
Many players have already sufficiently leveled up the weapon through Vanguard Multiplayer, making it the ideal choice for early Warzone success.
Warzone Pacific alternatives to Automaton
Long-range Assault Rifles are a popular choice across Caldera. With a ton of open space on the map, these weapons will certainly excel. If the Automaton isn’t your first choice then you may want to consider the STG44. It offers less mobility but more firepower.

Best Diamatti loadout for CoD: Warzone Pacific Season 1
Here are the attachments and perks you can equip to make the best Warzone Pacific Diamatti loadout in Season 1 for close-quarter battles.
The Diamatti is a reliable handgun ideal for close combat and it remains a viable option during Warzone Pacific Season 1. Here’s the best Warzone Diamatti loadout that will allow you to mow down enemies in close-quarters combat.
The close-range meta for Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific has a good deal of variety right now in Season 1, with the Diamatti Pistol from Black Ops Cold War being an excellent choice for players when it comes to their secondary weapon, especially if you are running a Ghost class.
If you’re looking to make this handgun your trusty side-arm during close encounters, then you will want to make sure you have the best Warzone Pacific Diamatti loadout built for your class.
Here are the attachments and perks you will need to use to have the best Warzone Pacific Diamatti loadout ready for battle.
- Best Warzone Diamatti loadout attachments

- Most recent Diamatti buffs and nerfs

Best Warzone Pacific Diamatti loadout attachments
- Muzzle: Agency Supressor
- Barrel: 7.2″ Task Force
- Laser: SWAT 5mw Laser Sight
- Ammunition: STANAG 30 Rnd
- Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap
The Diamatti was once considered overpowered when it first dropped in Warzone, but it has since received a few buffs and nerfs in recent seasons. Although it isn’t considered OP anymore, it still absolutely shreds on Rebirth Island. Players who prefer the Rebirth Island map should give this Diamatti loadout a try.
We’ll start with the Agency Suppressor Muzzle attachment, which will give you a big boost in vertical recoil control all while keeping your shots off of the minimap.
Next, we’ll use the 7.2″ Task Force Barrel to improve the Diamatti’s damage range and bullet velocity significantly. This will make the weapon ideal for close-quarters and medium-range encounters so that you don’t get overwhelmed by foes.
While the handgun has precise accuracy, you’ll be firing from the hip in certain close-range combat situations, so we recommend equipping the SWAT 5mw Laser Sight to increase hip-fire accuracy.
Finally, we’ll cap off the best Warzone Diamatti loadout with the STANAG 30 Round Mag to make sure you do not run out of bullets in the middle of a fight and the Serpent Wrap Rear Grip attachment to boost your aim down sight speed.
Best Perks to use with Warzone Diamatti class
- Perk 1: E.O.D
- Perk 2: Ghost
- Perk 3: Battle Hardened
Many battles on Caldera or Rebirth Island will have enemies throwing explosives at you. Using E.O.D. will allow you to take less damage from enemy explosives and help you stay in the fight longer.
Using the Best Warzone Diamatti loadout means you do not have to worry about using Overkill and can focus on utilizing the power of Ghost, which will keep you from appearing on enemy UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors.
Another bonus of using this Black Ops Cold War pistol as your main secondary weapon is that you do not need to use Amped to increase your weapon swap speed, as it is already fast enough for Pistols.
This will allow you to use Battle Hardened to reduce the effectiveness of enemy stun and flash grenades, which can be the difference between winning and losing a fight.
Most recent Diamatti buffs and nerfs
Raven Software haven’t made any major changes to the Diamatti Pistol in some time, but we will update this section with any new buffs or nerfs if they are applied in the future.
How to unlock the Diamatti in Warzone Pacific
Players will first need to unlock this Pistol if they want to create the best Warzone Diamatti loadout. Interested individuals can unlock this weapon by reaching Level 49 in either Warzone or Black Ops Cold War.
Consider using a Double XP token and this Rebirth Island strategy to fully level weapons up in 30 minutes.
Best Diamatti alternatives for Warzone Pacific
There are very few weapons in the Pistol category that are dominating Warzone Pacific at the moment. If you want to stick to a Pistol and still be able to use Ghost with your first loadout then Vanguard’s 1911 Pistol and Top Break Pistol are fine candidates.

Warzone’s most overpowered Assault Rifle is back after January 12 update buff
Warzone’s weapon meta is shifting once again after a previously nerfed weapon makes its return back into the meta after receiving a buff.
After the January 12th update, one of the Warzone Pacific ARs that was previously overpowered and nerfed has been buffed, currently making it one of the best options, especially with this “specific” build.
Despite the new SMG, the Welgun, stealing the show and becoming one of the best weapons to use, a previously overpowered AR has taken its place in the meta once again after receiving a buff in the patch.
Back when Warzone Pacific first launched, players were getting to grips with all the new Vanguard weapons, figuring out which ones would top the meta.
Players quickly realized how strong the Automaton was, mostly because of its lack of recoil and consistent damage at range.
The Automaton became the number one AR option for players until it was subsequently nerfed. The nerf saw its recoil adjusted, which made it much less overpowered. Having said that, the devs have decided to buff the weapon in the mid-season update, and players are slowly realizing its potential once again.
Warzone Pacific January 12 Automaton buff
In the Warzone January 12 patch notes, the Automaton received the following buff:
- Assault Rifle Hotel (VG)Recoil decreased
- Recoil Deviation decreased
This buff has greatly increased the viability of this weapon, especially since the previous nerf made the weapon’s recoil much harder to control and predict.
After this buff, even FaZe Swagg believes that the weapon is “back,” claiming in his latest video that it is now his “main AR.”
Make sure you check out our best Automaton loadout for Warzone Pacific after this buff, as it does require certain attachments to make it feel just as great as it once felt.
