Over the years, frequent collaborations have helped Fortnite in releasing a ton of outfits, back blings, and gliders. If you’ve ever wondered how many Fortnite skins are there, you’ve come to the right page.

Despite Fortnite releasing five years ago and fierce competition from Warzone and Apex Legends, it is one of the biggest battle royale titles out there. While constant map and meta changes have helped in this long-lasting success, one cannot ignore the role of cosmetics.

It is surreal (and bizarre for some) to imagine that you can don a Naruto outfit and use Darth Vader’s Lightsaber, Spider-Man’s web-shooters, and Baby Groot’s back bling in a single game.

It is only natural for players to feel curious about the total number of skins Fortnite has released since launch, and here’s the exact number.

How many skins are in Fortnite?

As of July 2022, Fortnite has released a total of 1393 skins. The word skins is synonymous with outfits as the total number of ‘cosmetics’ which includes back blings, gliders, pets, wraps, and banners is significantly higher.

Fortnite was released in July 2017 and in five years, Epic Games is on the verge of releasing 1400 outfits. This means that on average, 23 new Fortnite outfits were out every month.

Fortnite has released a total of 6716 cosmetics so far. This not only includes the 1393 outfits, but also wraps, banners, and loading screens, among other items.

It all started with Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper in Season 1, and here we are in Chapter 3 Season 3 where a LeBron James skin is up for grabs for 2500 V-Bucks.

How do Fortnite skins work?

Fortnite skins are purely cosmetic and they do not provide any competitive advantage to the owners. Regardless, players love spending on skins because it is the only way for them to brag about their wealth, expertise, playstyle, and experience.

For instance, anyone sporting a Black Knight, Golden Agent Peely, or fully-upgraded Omega outfit is perceived to be a tryhard and a veteran.

Moreover, the cost of skins depends on their rarity:

  • Uncommon – 800 V-Bucks
  • Rare – 1,200 V-Bucks
  • Epic – 1,500 V-Bucks
  • Legendary – 2,000 V-Bucks

Having said that, unlocking some exclusive skins like Galaxy or Double Helix can even cost you over $1000.

It is safe to assume that the total number of skins in Fortnite will keep on increasing and we’ll update this page accordingly. If skins and cosmetics amuse you, make sure to check out our guide on the rarest Fortnite skins.
