Since its launch, Battlefield 2042 failed to live up to high expectations and this has impacted the active player count. Here’s a look at how many people are playing Battlefield 2042 in 2022.

Random bans, a number of glitches, and game-breaking bugs have all led to a less than ideal launch for the latest entry in the Battlefield franchise. Despite an inconvenient launch, Battlefield devs have done their part in rolling out significant updates to alleviate issues.

For these reasons, the player count has fluctuated drastically since November with some peaks and frequent lows. After analyzing the data, here’s how many people are playing Battlefield 2042 in 2022.

The numbers used for this analysis are derived from Steam Charts seeing as there isn’t a platform that compiles the number of active users across all platforms. In this case, we’ll be focusing on PC players.

Steam Charts indicates that as of January 4, 2022, Battlefield 2042’s average player count clocks in at around 18,343. That number takes into account the average player number throughout the last 30 days.

One look at this number and it’s clear to see the drop in players compared to Battlefield 2042’s launch month. Shortly after a November 19 launch, the average Battlefield player count peaked at 100,590. Only 30 days after the 19 of November and that number dipped to 29,262

The numbers indicate a continued decrease in players, and we shouldn’t be surprised to see a new all-time low next month despite the fact that the holidays gave gamers more time to play their favorite titles.

Players might be skeptical that these numbers don’t truly represent the active player base across all platforms. However, these figures indicate underlying issues with Battlefield 2042 that have affected all versions of the game.
