Apex Legends’ fall stun can ruin your momentum while dropping and put you at a disadvantage during battle. This simple trick can help you avoid this so that you can break the fall, and surprise your enemies.
When falling from a great height in Apex Legends, a stun will be applied to your Legend that will cause them to stop before hitting the ground. This feature keeps you from taking fall damage, but can leave you vulnerable to enemy attacks.
When the battle royale first came out in 2019, there was a trick to cancel the stun by meleeing the ground until Respawn removed it. Although you can’t make use of that technique anymore, there’s still a way to avoid fall stuns in Apex Legends.
How to avoid Apex Legends’ fall stun
In order to preserve your momentum, you can cancel the stun by using the melee attack to hit a wall or any other vertical surface on your way down. This will break your fall without stopping you in the air.
This technique is just as efficient as the one that players used in Season One before Respawn patched it up. Just kick in the air while you’re on your way down and you’ll get it done as soon as your melee makes contact with the surface.
Despite having the Season One mechanic removed, a few veteran players still attempt to punch the ground in the hopes that it will still get the job done. Apparently, a few players have had luck getting that technique to work even after the patch.
“The punch ground tech actually still works, although I’m unsure under what circumstances exactly,” one player noted. “Did it a few times in Oasis not being horizon but prolly only once out of every 50 tries. Still trying to figure out if it was something with angle or timing.”
Regardless of which method you use, keeping your momentum while falling from great heights can prove useful in surprising enemies, as well as keeping you moving. So it’s absolutely worth trying this trick in the midst of battle.

Apex Legends Season 13 leaked Summer Tiki Event: Cosmetics, store takeover, more
Apex Legends dataminers have revealed new information about a potential summer Tiki-themed event for Season 13.
Apex Legends Season 13 could be getting a summer-themed event for Season 13, as dataminers leak new details.
Fans are always intrigued by leaked future content for the battle royale game, and it seems dataminers may have revealed a summer-themed Tiki event that could be arriving in Season 13.
What is Apex Legends’ Summer Tiki Event?
Apex Legends leaker Garret has revealed new leaked content that may imply a Summer Tiki event for Apex Legends in Season 13.
Not much is officially known about this event, but as Apex Legends usually gets a Summer of Plunder store sale, it’s likely that the devs will be doing something for the summer season.
In Garret’s video posted on May 19, the leaker revealed some unreleased summer-themed Weapon Charms found in the game’s files by dataminer HYPERMYST.
The Tiki theme comes from the design of the charms, which possess tropical island flowers, an exotic fruit, bamboo, bright colors, a beach umbrella, and just an overall Hawaiian vibe.
Garret believes this either implies that we will either be getting a summer-themed event or a store takeover.
The dataminer also found some more interesting Weapon Charms that further indicate some sort of summer-themed takeover. One of these charms is called “Nessie Float” in the game’s files, which definitely shares a beach/summer theme.
Not much is confirmed about the event, but it’s clear that the devs are working on something summer-themed, whether it be a bundle, store takeover, or thematic event.
We already have leaked information on the Collection Event for Season 13, which is rumored to be called Awakened and has an Anime theme, so it’s likely that this summer event will not be a collection.
As more information is revealed about this potential Apex Legends summer Tiki event, we will be sure to update this piece so stay tuned.

Most picked Legends in Apex Legends Season 13
5. Pathfinder – 7.8%
Pathfinder has consistently been one of Apex Legends’ top five picks at 7.8%, and counting, for quite some time now.
As a Recon class, Pathfinder simply excels in movements and traversing the game’s various maps. His Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are simply invaluable assets that will help any team in a pinch – either because of the circle or a third-party situation. He consistently manages to stay in the top 5 as a result.
4. Bloodhound – 8.7%
Again, with the influx of new Apex Legends players, Bloodhound is a great character to use for new players in Season 13.
Bloodhound nearly always stays in and around the 8-11% mark as a season goes on, and they currently stand at 8.7%. They are easily the top Recon class to use in Apex Legends, thanks to their tracking tools and incredible skills, plus, their Beast of the Hunt Ultimate is priceless.
3. Valkyrie – 9.4%
Despite getting some nerfs, Valkyrie is in the top 5 Legend pick rates for Season 13 with 9.4%, as she is the movement Queen. Her Jetpack Passive allows players to escape any kind of situation, which is crucial for survivability.
As well as her Passive, her Skyward Dive Ultimate is also great for mobility. This ability is the best rotational tool in all of Apex Legends, as it allows her and the team to relocate from a bad position or situation, into a good one.
Lastly, Valkyrie’s Tactical is also extremely useful for being aggressive and getting enemies out of camping spots, so long as you have enough room above you to launch the Missile Swarm.
2. Octane – 10.2%
With a 10.2% pick rate, the speed demon takes the number two spot, continuing his reign as one of the most popular Legends in Season 13, fluctuating between the top two places.
Aside from his amusing quips, he is the perfect balance of offense and defense. Despite being regarded as an offensive Legend, Octane can greatly increase his sprint speed which is useful for both attack and running away.
But most Octane users thrive on his Launch Pad Ultimate which can send him, and friendly players, high up into the air.
1. Wraith – 10.7% – Most picked Legend in Apex Legends Season 13
Another starting Legend, Wraith has been a consistent pick throughout Apex Legends’ lifetime, and she has taken the number one spot with a 10.7% pick rate in Season 13.
Wraith’s stand-out features are her ability to get out of trouble very quickly – teammates included. Her abilities allow her to sense danger, become temporarily invulnerable, and create portals to escape predicaments. It’s easy to see why Wraith continues to be an absolute fan favorite in Apex Legends Season 13.
That covers all the picks in Apex Legends Season 13. As always, buffs and nerfs will come and go throughout the season, altering the game’s meta, and subsequently, Legend pick rates.

Apex Legends pro claims Season 13 ranked changes will make you a better player
An Apex Legends pro has come out in support of the Season 13 ranked changes, claiming it will make players better.
After receiving backlash, Apex Legends pro Mac ‘Albralelie’ Beckwith has shared his thoughts on the new Season 13 ranked system, claiming it will improve players.
Previously, the system had been more focused on kills, but the new system places emphasis on placement. This has made it harder for players to earn points and level up, as the lobbies have become much more competitive in the final zones.
In Apex Legends Season 13’s Ranked Leagues, players are encouraged to stay alive and play for the win, rather than getting a load of kills. This had led to more squads and players being alive in final circles, making it harder to gain points.
While the community hasn’t been particularly fond of these changes, seasoned Apex Legends pro Albralelie gave his opinions on this new system, supporting the dev’s changes while making some controversial comments.
In a recent stream, the Apex Legends pro shared his feelings towards the changes, believing the new ranked changes are healthy for the game, which is contrary to the community’s reaction.
Ultimately, the pro feels as if the new changes are going to make players better at the game. Albralelie says that the new system “caters to you being able to actually improve as you climb…don’t get defeated.”
The streamer and Apex pro also made some interesting comments on solo players while answering a question about whether solo players should be able to reach the higher ranks.
The pro makes a controversial statement: “should a solo player be able to reach Masters in a team-based competitive BR? Just because it happened before doesn’t mean it was supposed to happen, right?”
It’s interesting to hear a professional Apex Legends player’s take on the new ranked system, especially as casual players have been pretty upset with the changes. All in all, the pro feels it will make players better, and even if players are now in lower ranks than they’re used to, they should use it as motivation to improve.
