To say that Rockstar struck gold with Grand Theft Auto V would be the understatement of the century. The already insanely-popular sandbox series reached even higher levels of success thanks to GTA 5, selling over 140 million copies, and GTA Online in particular. The online-only, live service catapulted the franchise to new heights of profitability.
As such, the game was re-released on last-gen, and it’s even coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for one more round. As a reward, Rockstar has decided to give back to the community by offering $1 million per month for PS Plus owners on PlayStation.
Regular beneficiaries of this promotion may wonder why they haven’t received their free $1 million this month. The system to hand out the money has changed, and we have all the details.
$1 million free GTA Online credits for PS Plus owners
The ‘Expanded and Enhanced’ version of GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X was announced in mid-2020 and would represent the third generation of consoles that the game will feature on. Its announcement and eventual release will ensure that GTA fans are entertained until GTA VI has an official date.

To keep players ticking over until GTA V’s latest re-release, Rockstar has been providing weekly updates for GTA Online and even created a whole new expansion for the game with the Cayo Perico Heist.
They have also graciously offered all PlayStation owners with PS Plus memberships the chance to claim free, in-game money. For every month until the game’s release, PS Plus members would receive $1 million for free for simply logging into the game each month.
However, this is no longer the method required to claim the free currency. Instead, there is a slightly more convoluted way to do so.
Here is how to claim your free $1 million GTA$ a month:
- Boot up your PlayStation console
- Head to the PlayStation Store
- Search for “GTA Online PS Plus”
- One of the first options should be “PS Plus: GTA$1,000,000 for GTA Online”
- Click “Download”
- Now launch GTA 5 and go onto GTA Online
- You should find the money in your character’s account
You have until the last day of each month to claim your free $1 million, and then you have will have a chance to claim another $1 million the month after and so forth.
This promotion is only until GTA 5 comes out on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so make the most of it whilst you can!
