fifa 22 ICON Upgrade

EA has dropped a Base ICON Upgrade SBC in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team for fans to get stuck into. Here’s everything you need to know about how to complete it, and whether or not it is worth the grind.

The first ICON SBC of the year has landed in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, as EA have dropped a Base ICON Upgrade for fans to complete.

ICONS are some of the game’s highest-rated players and are perfect for helping your team achieve full chemistry or securing bragging rights over your friends.

Fans will no doubt be tripping over themselves to bag themselves their first footballing legend of the year, so here’s how to complete the FIFA 22 Base ICON Upgrade, and our thoughts on whether or not players should go for it.

What are FIFA 22 Base ICONS?

Base ICONS are the first and lowest-rated version of every legend in FIFA 22, they usually represent the player when they were just breaking through or in the swansong of their career.

They still come with all the same chemistry benefits, where they link to everyone regardless of league or nation, but their stats are more modest than the Mid or Prime versions.

That’s not to say they are unusable. Since they occasionally depict a player when they were younger, their pace stats can sometimes but just as good as their high-rated counterparts.

How to complete FIFA 22 Base ICON Upgrade

There are a total of four SBCs to complete to earn your shiny Base ICON, requiring two Team of the Week players altogether.

According to FUTBIN, the whole SBC is clocking in at between 459,000 to 512,000 coins depending on which platform you play on.

Each individual challenge also rewards players with a free pack, so keep your fingers crossed for some good SBC fodder in any of those.

Check out the full list of requirements below.

  • 87-Rated Squad (Prime Mixed Players Pack)
    • Squad Rating: Min 87.
    • Team Chemistry: Min. 40
    • Players in Squad: 11
  • 86-Rated Squad (Small Prime Gold Players Pack)
    • Team of the Week Players: Min. 1
    • Squad Rating Min. 86
    • Team Chemistry: Min. 45
    • Players in Squad: 11
  • 86-Rated Squad (Premium Mixed Players Pack)
    • Squad Rating: Min. 86
    • Team Chemistry: Min 50
    • Players in Squad: 11
  • 85-Rated Squad (Small Prime Electrum Players Pack)
    • Team of the Week Players: Min. 1
    • Squad Rating: Min. 85
    • Team Chemistry: Min. 55
    • Players in Squad: 11

Is the Base ICON Upgrade worth it?

If we’re being completely honest, the answer to whether or not you should complete the Base ICON Upgrade depends on how your club is looking at this early point of the year.

The market has been notoriously dead this year, but as we mentioned earlier if you have to buy every player for each SBC you’re looking at a nearly 500,000 coin dent in your savings.

There are more than 100 ICONS in the game this year, but at the time of writing, only 36 Base versions are selling for more than that, and these are some of the biggest names like Pele and Eusebio.

With this in mind, if your club is relatively empty but you’re sitting on a 500,000 to 600,000 coin haul, save your coins or splash out on the ICON you really want – rather than leaving it to chance and getting Inzaghi.

On the other hand, if you’ve been spamming those 78+ Player Picks and have a club full of high-rated players that don’t challenge your starting squad, then this SBC is more than worth the risk.

Ultimately, we wouldn’t recommend completing the Base ICON Upgrade unless you would only have to spend around 100,000 coins in total.

That was everything you need to know about the first Base ICON Upgrade of FIFA 22. There’s sure to be more SBCs like this throughout the year, so stay tuned on Charlie INTEL for more guides.

FIFA 23 players can’t play beta after crashing & connection errors: How to fix

While FIFA 23 players were excited to play the beta, crashing and connection errors are ruining the fun. Here’s how to fix the errors on PS5.

Published

Several players are reporting that they cannot access the FIFA 23 beta due to crashing and connection errors. If you’re hoping to get a first look at the new game, here’s how to fix FIFA 23’s beta bugs.

FIFA 23’s close beta went live on August 11 and countless players rushed to their platforms to get a first look at EA Sports’ new iteration of the franchise. Unfortunately, a considerable amount of players were met with FIFA 23 beta bugs that prevented them from accessing the game.

This is far from an ideal situation as the beta is only available until September 1. It seems the luck of players who were fortunate enough to receive a code for the closed beta is beginning to change.

However, there’s no real reason to worry as we’ll provide a fix for the FIFA 23 beta errors to get you back into matches.

It turns out there are a few separate FIFA 23 beta errors that are ruining the fun at the moment. One of the errors leads to the game crashing after players attempt to open the FIFA 23 application. This one is particularly frustrating as players can’t even get to the main menu to access any of the modes on offer.

Meanwhile, other players can access the menu but cannot play any modes, including the Kick-Off mode that should be available to everyone. With the player unable to select a mode, the FIFA 23 beta becomes utterly useless.

How to fix FIFA 23 beta errors on PS5

To fix the connection and crashing errors for FIFA 23’s beta you have to delete friends on your PlayStation account until you have less than 100. The issues were primarily impacting players on PS5.

This should work for PS5 players, while others are reporting that completing training matches eventually unlocks other modes. It seems there are more than a few bugs that players have to deal with. For the time being the method above is your best bet until the devs address these issues.

EA have yet to comment, but with the FIFA 23 beta available until September 1, there’s no doubt that they will work on delivering a fix for players soon.

FIFA 23’s new FUT Moments rewards have Ultimate Team players delighted

In FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, players can earn more rewards than ever thanks to the new FUT Moments mode, leaving many delighted.

Published

on

The prospect of earning Ultimate Team rewards is one of the mode’s main attractions, and this year players will have more opportunities to do so than ever thanks to FIFA 23’s new FUT Moments feature.

FIFA players are always looking for more ways to grind and sink hours into their favorite football game. For some time, the Ultimate Team mode has allowed players to earn rewards through Squad Battles, Division Rivals, and FUT Champions.

Luckily, FIFA 23 players will have another method to earn rewards for their squad thanks to the new FUT Moments Ultimate Team mode. This single-player offering is one of many new additions to the Ultimate Team mode in FIFA 23.

The mode will task players with completing a number of specific objectives. These objectives will often be short scenarios where players hop into already started matches. The scenarios will be based on legendary moments and memorable real-life football matches.

The good news for players is that completing scenarios will result in stars earned. Stars will be a new currency in Ultimate Team with valuable rewards up for grabs. Each reward will have a certain price set in stars.

For example, a Premium Gold Pack could cost 12 stars to unlock. FUT Moments is being tipped as a standalone live service, with new challenges added after release. Much to the delight of players, FUT Moments will provide extra achievements to grind for alongside Ultimate Team’s usual offerings.

Players on Reddit have already begun discussing the impact FUT Moments will have on FIFA 23’s Ultimate Team experience. The vast majority of comments were positive such as this one: “This is such a W, it adds more grind potential for everyone and also gives people that like to focus on single player only something else to do.”

Players absolutely love to earn packs and improve Ultimate Team squads with new players, and FUT Moments gives them yet another method to do so.

In addition, the same player noted that “FUT Stars you win from this never expire and transfer across seasons, that is really great news too.” The most valuable FUT Moments rewards are likely going to set players back a hefty amount of stars. Therefore, the fact that stars do not expire after every season is seen as a massive win for all FUT fans.

One player explained just how efficient this new mode could be by comparing it to Squad Battles: “It’s also fast sessions of gameplay. No boring 15 min. squad battles games, they’re quick scenarios that can be completed in 2/3 mins.”

While playing Squad Battles offers valuable rewards, the gameplay is hated by many as it’s a slow offline path to rewards. In comparison, FUT Moments has the ability to place players on the fast track to new Ultimate Team rewards.

The FIFA 23 developers have added the viral dance known as the “Griddy” for players to perform in the game, and here’s how you can get this done.

There is a ton of anticipation for the release of FIFA 23, as the game is set to bring a ton of new features for fans of the series to explore in its Career ModeUltimate Team, and Pro Clubs.

Now, developer Electronic Arts have added the “Griddy” dance as a new celebration that you can trigger after scoring a goal in the game. We’ll go over exactly how to perform the viral dance.

How to perform the Griddy celebration in FIFA 23

After you’ve scored a goal, you’ll need to hold down R2/RT and flick the right control stick upwards twice in order to perform the Griddy celebration in FIFA 23. Your player will then start tapping his heels while swinging his arms back and forth.

The Griddy dance is named after its creator Allen ‘Griddy’ Davis and became a viral sensation after popular celebrities like LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase and Viking’s number 18 Justin Jefferson brought it to the NFL.

Since then, numerous players have performed the dance, and its intense popularity has led to the Griddy also being added to video games like Fortnite and Madden. Now, it’s available for you to try out in FIFA 23.

Now that you know how to perform the Griddy in FIFA 23, be sure to try it out if you feel like celebrating a particularly challenging goal. It may take a few tries to input the correct button combo, but you’ll be able to get it done in no time.

You can try performing it in the closed beta before the game is officially released on September 30, 2022. We’ll keep you posted about any other new additions to FIFA 23 as soon as they’re confirmed.
