How to defy gravity as Octane in Apex Legends

An Apex Legends player has discovered a new trick that allows Octane to defy gravity and walk on the air with the help of his ultimate.

Octane has an impressive array of abilities that have made him popular among the Apex Legends community. Now a player has discovered a trick that lets him defy gravity during a match.

There is a great variety of interesting and colorful characters to choose from in Apex Legends. All the Legends in the game are distinctive and come with their own set of unique abilities that make them stand out.

Octane is a fan favorite that is capable of achieving verticality by launching himself across the map. Learning this character allows you to use cool maneuvers such as attacking with 100% accuracy in mid-air.

There are also other tricks that you can learn with Octane, and a new one has been discovered by an Apex player on Reddit. This lets you use the character to defy gravity for a brief amount of time.

Apex Legends trick allows Octane to defy gravity

Reddit user english-cashew posted a clip of them playing as Octane in the ApexUniversity subreddit. During the match, they perform a trick that allows Octane to walk in the air and this impressed the commenters.

All you need to do is perform Octane’s ultimate while he stands underneath a flat surface. He will use the launch pad to go up and then stick to the surface, which will allow you to walk along the air.

This trick is impressive and can be utilized when you’re in buildings and close quarters. A few players have successfully performed this trick at the vents near the turbine on Olympus. You can surf right through them for an easy flank or escape.

The player placed the Legend below a bridge on World’s Edge and then used his ultimate. His upwards momentum wasn’t interrupted and you can see this in the clip below.

The player used this tactic to flank some enemies on the other side of the bridge. This makes the trick ideal for catching your enemy by surprise. Plus it’s fairly easy to perform, so you can use it multiple times in a single match.

You should still be careful about using it during a ranked game. You might get picked off from the sky by a nearby enemy or something might get in your way which stops your momentum before you can perform it successfully.

That said, this trick is absolutely worth trying when playing as Octane. With Season 7 of the Battle Royale well underway, you will find plenty of opportunities to use it in the midst of a battle.

Big map changes and Crypto event details revealed Apex Legends Season 9 leak

Some new Apex Legends leaks point to Olympus going through big changes in Season 9, and Crypto’s heirloom event having a special theme.

New changes planned for Olympus in Apex

A new Apex Legends leak has emerged which hints at some major map changes for Olympus and World’s Edge when Season 9 goes live. It also reveals new details about the Crypto heirloom event too.

Apex Legends has gone through various changes since launch, with each update bringing new content like weapons, heirlooms, and even Legends. The game’s map has also been reformed with new areas like Olympus joining the battle royale.

While Kings Canyon and World’s Edge have been largely altered from their original forms, Olympus has yet to be touched. Now, some new leaks have popped up which suggest that’s all about to change soon.

Olympus in Apex Legends

These leaks came from notable Apex Legends data miner Biast12, who stated that World’s Edge is set to undergo some small adjustments during Season 9, with a major map change also planned for Olympus.

“Olympus should get the “big map change” at season start,” he tweeted. “World’s Edge should get a small map change mid-season.” So far, it doesn’t seem like anything is planned for Kings Canyon but that could change.

Season 8 completely reformed that map, and left it in a ruined state. So, it’s likely that Respawn might plan some bigger changes for it in future seasons.

Additionally, the data miner also had revealed some new information regarding the upcoming Crypto heirloom event. The season three legend is getting a Jikdo sword as an heirloom, and the event will have a “post-apocalypse” theme.

That event will probably also bring some brand-new skins and other cosmetics for players to equip. With a potential “post-apocalypse” theme, we wouldn’t be too surprised if we ended up seeing some creative new designs.

It’s worth keeping in mind that these are currently just leaks, and are subject to change until Respawn announces something official. That said, we’ll keep checking for further updates, and will inform you once we learn something new.

Apex Legends devs may rework Crypto if his play rate gets worse

Apex Legends dev reveals hacker Crypto could be receiving a rework in Season 9 if his pick rate gets any worse.

Apex Legends Crypto rework

Crypto could be next in line to receive a rework for Season 9 after Apex Legends dev reveals they are watching his play rate closely.

Crypto is a very niche character in Apex Legends and it’s no surprise that his play rate may be lower than most of the other Legends.

Crypto was introduced in Season 3, along with World’s Edge after the hacker destroyed the beacon at Repulser on Kings Canyon. Crypto has a strong dislike towards the Syndicate, the group behind the Apex Games, joining the fight to get closer to the corrupt company.

Apex Legends Season 9 Crypto rework

His introduction was well received and even became a strong pick in Ranked Leagues, combining his ultimate Drone EMP with characters like Wraith and Octane to get in quickly after Crypto deals the shield damage.

During a podcast, live balance designer John Larson stated that Crypto had a low pick rate in Season 8, but a “healthy win rate,” putting him in an odd spot for a rework.

His pick rate is much lower than other Legends, sitting at 1.5% compared to fellow Survey Legend Bloodhound’s 14.3%, according to Apex legends Status.

Larson believes this is because of his Surveillance Drone, as it provokes a playstyle that many players aren’t necessarily too fond of. Most casual players want a character that keeps them in the fight and can be used aggressively, whereas Crypto is most useful when he is in the drone.

Unlike Bloodhound, for Crypto to be most effective he needs to be out of the fight, making him a tough character to master and also one that many players won’t have the motivation for.

Crypto is a character that once mastered, can be extremely useful, especially with good teammates who have the ability to take fights without a third always being there.

If Crypto’s play rate or win rate gets any lower, Larson revealed they will look into reworking him as a whole, much like Mirage and Lifeline.

death note reference in Apex Legends

Apex Legends fans noticed some neat anime references within the new teaser dropped by Respawn, with images for My Hero Academia and Death Note, along with a few others.

Respawn Entertainment like to create hype among the Apex Legends community by sporadically releasing teasers that show off upcoming content. Now, a new one has caught the attention of fans because of its various easter eggs.

While Apex fans were initially just focusing on was the statue of a Valkyrie that has been connected to the upcoming Legend named Valk, a few eagle-eyed viewers were able to notice some hidden anime references as well.

Apex Legends roster

The new Apex Legends teaser image showcased a room on a spaceship which bares close resemblance to Wattson’s room, as revealed in a previous teaser. Looking closer at the stacked shelves on the right reveals various hints.

The shelf has Portion a Nessie toy, along with the Land of the Lustrous and My Hero Academia manga. If you look at the bottom of the shelf, you can also spot a stack of Death Note chapters next to the Valkyrie statue.

These are surprising additions that the developers deliberately left in the image, and now Apex fans are speculating how this will affect the future of the battle royale.

When Apex Legends released on the Nintendo Switch, Respawn Game Director, Chad Grenier stated the Season 9 character would appeal to Japanese players. These references could be a clue about the Legend’s interest in manga.

Respawn also released weapon charms and a limited-edition Pathfinder skin for Nintendo players, which lines up with Grenier’s promise to “deliver unique content to Japan” in Apex Legends. We might see more anime-themed content added later.

The image also contains a reference to thea Apex Predators from Titanfall on a piece of paper lying on the desk. With Season 9 on the horizon, we expect plenty more surprises to come in the next few months.
