How to disable pre-edits with new Fortnite feature

In a recent update, Epic Games added the ability for players to disable pre-edits in Fortnite. Here’s how to do it yourself.

Epic Games has finally added in the option to disable pre-edits, a long-awaited feature from the Fortnite community.

Pre-edits have been a hot topic of debate amongst the Fortnite community since release. Many have hailed it to be a useless feature, becoming an annoying obstacle in combat.

Finally, Epic have listened to the community by adding a feature to disable this edit option.

What is “pre-editing?”

Pre-editing is the process of editing a structure before you place it on the ground. This used to be useful for players on controller who wanted better access to ramps in the Combat Pro era, but has seen a sharp decline in use and is now just an annoying feature that can be accidentally activated.

Accidently activating a pre-edit can be a frustrating experience, and can even result in lost build battles if you make a big enough mistake.

There are still some niche uses for pre-edits, like the one below, but they get in the way more often than not.

How to turn off pre-edits

To disable this feature, you’ll have to go to the settings tab in-game, then scroll down to the “building” section. Here, you’ll find the option to toggle the setting off.

Fortnite, disable pre-edits in settings menu

That’s it! You no longer have to worry about pre-edits getting in the way of your game sessions. You can always toggle this option back on later if you want to do something specific with your structures.

You can read about all of the newest fixes that dropped with the pre-edit toggle here.

How to find research books in Holly Hedges and Pleasant Park for the Fortnite Season 6 Week 8 challenges.

One of the Week 8 Epic quests in Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 6 requires you to collect research books from Holly Hedges and Pleasant Park. Here’s where you should look in each location.

Weekly challenges give you the opportunity to earn some extra XP as you progress through the Fortnite Season 6 Battle Pass. We’re now in Week 8 of Season 6, and there are plenty of new Epic quests to tackle.

One of these will have you visit the Pleasant Park and Holly Hedges POIs in search of a few research books. You’ll need to find and collect a total of three from either of these areas, and we’ll tell you where to look.

Research books in Fortnite Season 6

Where to find research books in Holly Hedges

Holly Hedges on the West side of Fortnite Island, and is a relatively small suburban area. It consists of a few streets, and many neighboring houses for you to explore.

Research books have green covers, and can be found lying on the floor next to book cases. You can find five of these within different houses in this area, and we’ve marked them on the map below:

If you arrived at Holly Hedges, and found it overcrowded players, then you can rotate over to Pleasant Park. The good news is that both POIs are close to each other, since they’re both on the West side of the map.

This area is slightly larger, and only contains three research books. Luckily, two of them are in buildings that are right next to each other, with only the third one being a bit further away. You can take a look at their locations below:

As we mentioned before, just keep an eye out for bookcases when you enter the buildings. The green research books should be lying right next to them on the floor. Just collect a total of three, and you’ll have completed the challenge.

One thing to keep in mind is that these areas might have higher player traffic than usual as a result of the weekly challenges. For this reason, you should be ready for a fight when you arrive there.

Fortnite Week 8 quests

A fresh batch of Weekly Quests for Fortnite players to complete is officially on the way, so here’s everything you need to do in Season 6, Week 8.

Weekly challenges release every week in Fortnite, allowing players to earn a ton of extra XP to help complete the Battle Pass. Following the latest update which unvaulted the Infantry Rifle and Tactical Shotgun, we’re now in Week 6 of Season 8.

Players will have a series of Quests and a Legendary challenge to complete, so here’s everything you need to do in Week 8, and some top tips on how to complete the challenges.

Fortnite Season 6 Week 8 Quests

Fortnite season 6 guardian spire

Thanks to Fortnite leaker and data miner iFireMonkey, we can see the challenges ahead of time. They are set to release on Thursday, May 6, at 9 AM EDT / 2 PM BST.

Here’s the full list of Fortnite Chapter 2’s Season 6 Week 8 Quests:

  • Collect research books from Holly Hedges and Pleasant Park (1)
  • Use launcher from Guardian Towers (3)
  • Open chests at The Spire or Guardian Towers (2)
  • Damage Opponent within 10 seconds of landing (1)
  • Dance in Durr Burger Kitchen (1)
  • Use Firefly Jar at the Pizza Pit (1)
  • Drive from Durr Burger to Pizza Pit without exiting a vehicle (1)

Unlike Week 7’s, which would mostly occur naturally, you’ll have to bear these challenges in mind while trying to score Victory Royales in Fortnite.

While rotating into the next safe zone, make sure to visit the Guardian Towers around the map. Open two chests, then use the launcher to fly from the top of it. You only need to do this three times, so just visit every Guardian Tower you see.

Team Rumble is the best place to damage an opponent within 10 seconds of landing. Get some high ground, then glide down on top of an unwitting opponent and quickly deal some damage to easily complete this quest.

Fortnite Durr burger restaurant

With a bit of forward planning, you can easily complete the final three challenges in one match. Catch a firefly, drive a car to Durr Burger Kitchen, dance inside, then drive to Pizza Pit and use the Firefly jar.

Once we have more information about Pleasant Park and Holly Hedges research books, we will release a full guide on where to find them.

There is also a Legendary Quest that players can complete for some bonus XP. You need to destroy 500 structures with fire, with XP being rewarded for every 100 structures destroyed. Either catch some fireflies or find the Primal Flame Bow on the map and burn down every structure you see.

The Rock skin reportedly coming to Fortnite Icon Series in 2021

Fortnite’s lawsuit with Apple has revealed some interesting new content coming to the game, including a new skin for The Rock in 2021.

Fortnite the rock

An internal Epic Games presentation has revealed upcoming Fortnite content, including skins for NBA players and a new Icon Series event in 2021 featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In recent Fortnite news, Epic Games have been planning an NBA crossover event for Season 6, featuring new Basketball related challenges and rewards. More information has now been revealed about the event, as well as some future cosmetics releasing soon.

The news has been made public due to Epic Games’ ongoing law dispute with Apple, presenting the community with a presentation of various new upcoming content, including a skin for Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock.

The presentation also showed Epic Games’ plans for previous events that have already taken place, such as the Marvel crossover event and Neymar collaboration, adding credibility to the news.

Not only does the new information reveal the NBA crossover, featuring a new arcade basketball mini-game, and an open-world mode for players to enjoy, it also revealed a future Icon Series event, in which Dwayne Johnson is involved.

Although no official partnership has been confirmed, it seems likely that The Rock will be making an appearance in the free-to-play battle royale. Some even believe he is The Foundation, a mysterious Season 6 character who has a similar build to the Hollywood star.

The Rock has also previously posted an interesting Instagram video in which he refers to the foundation. The post was made on March 16th, the same day Season 6 began for Fortnite, as he states in the video that it was an important day. Could The Rock have hinted at his mysterious role in Fortnite?

Eitherway, it seems we will indeed be seeing The Rock as a themed skin in the future of Fornite, along with the Icon Series.
