How to eliminate 50 IO guards for Fortnite’s weekly challenges

Here’s how to find and eliminate 50 IO Guards for the Legendary quest in the Fortnite Season 5 Week 5 challenges.

Published

on

Fortnite Season 5 has brand new challenges this week, and one of them requires you to eliminate 50 IO Guards. This is one of the most difficult tasks to complete, but you will gain a huge XP boost.

There is a plethora of brand new content in Fortnite Season 5, such as Exotic weapons, cosmetics, and crossovers with other franchises. A new type of enemy has also joined the battle royale in the form of IO Guards.

These NPCs are extremely formidable, and you should be ready for a fight if you cross their paths. Week 5’s challenges include a Legendary quest that requires you to eliminate these enemies. Here’s how you can take them out, and complete the challenge.

Fortnite IO Guards

How to eliminate IO Guards for the Week 5 Fortnite challenge

You will need to take down 50 IO Guards in order to complete this weekly challenge. They aren’t the easiest threat to handle since they are relentless, and you will have to take on several of them at once.

They spawn at their terminals, so all you need to do is find these in order to fight them. Luckily, we’ve already covered the locations of all 20 terminals in Fortnite, so you can find them here.

The bad news is that you’re not guaranteed to find these enemies every single time you visit these locations. You might just find some weapons and gear there instead, so you’ll have to rotate to the next nearest one and try your luck there.

These foes are infamous for giving players a hard time, so make sure that you’ve stocked up on some powerful weapons and gear before charging into battle.

One important thing to keep in mind is that the guards are lethal at close-range, so we don’t advise taking them on headfirst. Instead, you should pick a long-range gun like a Sniper Rifle and start picking them off one by one.

This strategy also has the added benefit of reducing the accuracy of their aim. It’ll take several shots to deal any real damage to them, but eventually they will go down after you keep consistently firing at them. Make sure you’ve got sufficient ammo in your inventory.

Once you’ve eliminated 50 IO guards, the challenge will be successfully completed, and you’ll net 55,000 XP. This challenge is difficult and might require a few extra attempts, but the huge reward is worth the effort.

With Operation Snowdown well underway, you can greatly benefit from attempting the other challenges as well. We’ll keep you updated about every new task that Epic Games sends your way.

Fortnite The Convergence POI

Epic Games are keeping the Fortnite updates coming thick and fast during Fornitemares, with the 18.30 update scheduled for October 26. Here are all the leaks and rumors surrounding the latest update.

We’re about to enter the third and final week of Fortnitemares, which brought both the 18.20 and 18.21 updates. These updates brought significant changes to the battle royale, including donation boards, more Return Requests, and the new Cube Town POI.

The next update is 18.30, and rumors suggest that Cube Town could form a pyramid. Here’s everything we know about the 18.30 update so far.

Fortnite 18.30 update release date & server downtime

Fortnite 18.30 update patch notes

Fortnite’s 18.30 update is scheduled to go live on October 26, 2021, with downtime happening in the early morning.

As with all major Fortnite updates, the servers will be taken down while the update is applied. This usually happens around 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and lasts around 1-2 hours. Matchmaking will be disabled around half an hour before the servers go down.

Fortnite’s Cube Town might become a pyramid

Fortnite’s Cubes came together to form the Cube Town, or The Convergence, in the 18.21 update, and leaks have suggested this may now turn into a pyramid.

Well-known leaker HYPEX has discovered that “there’s a string in the Cube Queen’s effects that refers to her as the ‘Pyramid Tip,’ and she will also be holding her pickaxe after 18.30 with lightning effects around her!”

Because of this, they said that “The Cube Town MIGHT turn into a pyramid slowly.” We’ll just need to wait for the 18.30 update to find out for sure.
