How to fix Battlefield 2042 Error Code 3:9001
Battlefield 2042 devs have released the first update of 2022, but Update 3.2 has caused the frustrating Error Code 3:9001 which prevents Steam players from launching the game. But, we’ve got a simple fix for the issue.
Battlefield 2042 has been suffering from numerous bugs, glitches, and crashes, and DICE attempted to solve some of the worst offenders with January 20’s Update 3.2.
Unfortunately, this has caused the ‘Error Code 3:9001’ to pop up, preventing Steam users from launching the game.
Luckily, there’s a simple fix for the issue, so you can get back to playing Battlefield 2042 in no time.
How to fix Error Code 3:9001 in Battlefield 2042
While Battlefield 2042’s Error Code 3:9001 is frustrating, there’s an easy way to get around it by changing some settings within Steam.
Here’s how to get rid of Battlefield 2042’s 3:9001 Error Code:
- Open your Steam Library
- Right-click on Battlefield 2042
- Select Properties
- Select Updates
- Hit the drop down arrow underneath ‘Automatic Updates‘
- Select ‘Only update this game when I launch it‘
- Launch Battlefield 2042 through Steam
What appears to have gone wrong here was Steam didn’t automatically download the update for players, so the error code has popped up when players tried to launch an out-of-date version of Battlefield 2042.
However, setting the game to only ‘only update when I launch it’ will force the game to recognize and begin installing the update. Then, hopefully, you’ll be able to resume playing Battlefield 2042 as soon as the update’s over.
Battlefield 2042’s next update is scheduled for February, which finally brings a proper Scoreboard to the game. Then, Season 1 is expected to begin in March, bringing a new map.
